Just an update, We are still in the hospital. John has been getting a fever every evening around the same time. Not real high but high enough to call the docs. They have done blood cultures on top of cultures and found nothing. Took him for a CT the other day. They think he may have pneumonia but not really sure. Still has some fluid in the pleural space so that could be part of the problem too.
Everything looks good with the liver so far, numbers are more in the ranges of where they want them. The docs took out a few staples after he started bleeding from them when he was coughing, now they are packed but looking good! They took out the drain from he thigh yesterday, stitches are still there but looking good. His bruise from that mess goes all the way down the back of his leg, stopping just above the calf.
On Monday he was walking with the nurse and got weak, ask if she had the wheelchair behind him and she did not, when he needed to sit, she was still way behind him and he fell to the floor. So, since monday he has been very gun shy about walking with the nurses!! Yesterday he worked hard with physical therapy, doing very good just gets tired quick, since this is the most work he has done for a couple weeks. After meeting the the physical therapy doc, she advised that him & I can work together and he can get out of bed with just me there. Today he was up and out of bed by 730. We made trips to the restroom and to the chair, then worked with PT again and walked a lap in the hall. All staff were very happy to see him out and about! More laps are on the agenda for today along with exercises!!
Hoping to have a good weekend and maybe get out the first part of next week..... as always, One day at a time!!!
