colon cancer 2 years after transplant

Thank you Connie for the quick reply. My concern is that he didn't get a colonscopy prior to his transplant, which I thought was standard practice. What if it was there prior to transplant and with the immunesuppressent drugs it will grow faster. The surgeon said that they wouldn't know what stage it is until surgery. All we know at this moment is that they did not get clear margins when they resected the polyp. The path report states "invasive adenocarcinoma." I'm just so worried that after all we have been through to get the transplant, which isn't easy, he gets colon cancer. I feel like I have to get the fighting gloves back out and go at it again.

Thanks ML for replying. I feel I have no one to talk to. I don't want to keep bringing it up to him, he is one that doesn't talk a lot about his feelings. But I can see the worry in his eyes. I feel so bad for him. All I can do is pray. The transplant went well, after a few bumps, but all is pretty good overall.

Sending prayers to all that is going through this awful disease. No one knows what liver patients go through until they experience it.

He had it at UVA in Charlottesville VA. He had all the other tests. Days and days of testing and retesting. But they never did a colonscopy. I don't understand it either. I don't know if they didn't think it was necessary, he was 47 at the time of testing to list him. Or if it was just overlooked. I think I might call them tomorrow and ask.
