Good morning,
Janie did very well yesterday and last night. After receiving 7 units of blood and platelets day before yesterday her hemoglobin has gone from 6.1 to 9 and is holding steady, no sign of bleeding. Her blood gas test this morning has also improved and her oxygen has been cut back 50 percent. Her MELD score yesterday was 29, but has to have 6 more days of antibiotics and another clear culture before she can even be considered to be re-activated with UNOS. Her hepatologist still says we just take it day by day with Hopefully one step forward each day.
Please keep praying for her

Janie's hepatologist made her rounds late today but says she has improved since yesterday. Her platelets dropped to 17 today so she is receiving an infusion now, but her hemoglobin has actually risen to 9.7 with no bleeding. Hopefully she will continue to improve each day and get off the ventilator soon.
Will update you again in the morning

Janie did well last night no drastic changes in her labs. Nurse says no procedures planned for today other than continuing to gradually wean her from the ventilator. I suppose no news is also good news.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Janie spent the day breathing on her own with 02 assist. They are going to turn the ventilator back on tonight so she can rest. Her Blood/gas this morning was in the 90'0, if it is 100 percent in the morning they may extubate her. Sedation was stopped this morning and she has been
opening her eyes on commaInd all day. Looking forward to hearing her voice again. Her hepatologist sees improvement each day but it will be a slow progress. She will have 5 more days of antibiotics tomorrow...... We are praying she can improve enough to be back on UNOS soon.
Thank you once again for your prayers

Good news, Charlie! However, the best I ever did on room air was 96%...maybe because I was a heavy smoker until 10 yrs. ago. I wasn't on a vent, just oxygen, and that was discontinued several days prior to discharge after transplant.

Sounds encouraging.
If they put me on a vent til my O2 stats were 100, I'd never get off. I'm not the sick one in our family, but my sats is usually 88-92 and I'm glad for that! I lie to them at the gym...they don't want me to exercise below 90..shhhh.. don't tell.
Anxious for news in the morninng.
