My husband has ESLD. HELP!!!!

Lisa, thanks for the update. At what MELD score does Emory transplant? I think 16 is too low.

He has been accepted into the transplant program and his hepatologist is requesting and expecting credits up to 25 which they feel is where his conditions should be as far as MELD. 15 is the minimum required score but above 20 is preferred.

I hope he gets those credits. When I developed liver cancer, my score went from 9 to 22 automatically. Then I got another 3 points for being on the list for 3 mos. Not long after that, I received my transplant at a 25 MELD.

I wish we could move to FL or Atlanta, my husband will be at a 25 on January 10th

People do come to Mayo from all over the USA, Canada, and even overseas. They usually rent a motel room or get an apt. for 6 mos. or so. But that can get expensive and complicated.

My computer is not working properly . . . there was a message before those 4 letters!! Lisa, if I remember correctly your husband is military. I encourage you to go to the VA in Atlanta and try to get your meds thru them . . there are alot more than just the anti rejection med post transplant. Good luck!
