Hey all, hope your Holidays are going well so far! I have a question and it's probably nothing but I tried doing a little research and couldn't find anything. Last night while out to dinner my right hand went completely numb. I live in Nebraska and the weather is cold so I figured it was that. But after warming up and being inside for a long period of time, it didn't go away. I woke up this morning and my hand and majority of my arm is now numb. Strange thing is it is almost directly down the middle up my arm. I know it is probably nothing but has anyone had anything like this happen? Again, it is on the right side so I'm a little puzzled.

You should see a doctor about this. It could be something pressing on a nerve or a ministroke. Or it could be nothing. But since it is progressing, I think it would be best to get a professional opinion.

I sometimes get numbness in hand and arm. Due to carpel tunnel. But, I agree with Connie, go see a doctor. When it first happened to me, I did see a doctor to get the dx.

hi hyde,when i use a cane i occasionally get numbness from leaning on it. hopefully it will subside on its own.     be well   barry

Ok, I thought a little rest might help. I laid down for a bit but now have in both my hands and arms. I tried to call my Dr. and the on call Dr. said go to urgent care. I'm afraid they won't know my background or what to do. Also, I'm on Medicaid but pay monthly. So when I need meds or have an appt. I only pay for the months I need. I know I should have full but I can't afford the $1500 a month, and it's that high because they say I make too much. Will they still accept me if I am not on Medicaid for this month?

Connie, when I did tell the Dr. how it splits my fingers straight down the middle, she said that it could be a nerve but couldn't say for sure without seeing me.

 Jeff , Good to hear from ya even though it isn't the best news . Can't you just go to the E.R and let them check you out ?

 I know it isn't funny but my first thought was " Wonder if his eyesight is failing also " ? I've often heard that certain activities have tendency to make you go blind and start with a hand problem . Have you noticed any hair in your palms ?

Jeff, any ER will have to accept you, even if you don't have insurance. ER fees are on the high side these days, but if you don't have to be admitted or need surgery, it won't be too bad.

My hubby with ESLD has hand numbness (or tingling) sometimes...not often, but he takes an approved OTCounter medication for leg cramps and it seems to work for his hands too.

In fact, we are in Nebraska too, and he doesn't get it in the summer, just when it is really cold...eventhough it isn't cold in the house. Just had it 2 days ago..only that one day though. Come to think of it, it was the day the there was a lot of moisture in the air, after a snow.

Hope yours goes away, or you can find out what is causing it.
Have a nice weekend and it is warming up a little...at least from the 20 degrees.

Jeff - Get to a doctor, or ER. If you explain your medical history, they will know your background and be able to address your problem. Saving money by not getting treatment could cost much more money, not to mention your life. Be proactive, it might stave off future problems.

I have numbness and tingling in my right shoulder, arm and hand due to 3 herniated discs in my neck . . its also very painful in my right shoulder . . when I went to the ER about it, they gave me a few days of pain meds and muscle relaxers, and told me to find an Orthopedic Dr.

I would go to the ER to rule out Stroke/Heart problems!!
