My husband has known he has hep c for about 4 years. He did the PegIntron therapy for about
15 months and failed. about 6 months ago, he got on an experimental trial of daily interferon and ribavirin. Initial
ly, he responded very well, but we found out a few days ago that he fell out of protocol. Basically, we are just wait
ing for the next best thing to come along. He had an acute exacerbation of some form of Hepatitis while working a
s a Corpsman in 1979 on a medicine ward (yes, there were plenty of Vietanam vets with hepatitis- and no he didn'
t always wear gloves). Since he doesn't have Hep A antibodies, his current doctor suspects that was Hep C. He h
ad a biopsy 4 y/ago and that showed stage 3. I'm just looking for a forum that I can come to occasionally and get
some support. It is hard to find. Everybody I know either says, "You don't have it, what's your problem" or "Ever
ything will be okay". Am I in the right place? If not, I'm open to suggestions. Thanks.
