Well for those of you have questioned it , I'm officially " Stable "
. Just got a call from the transplant coordinator and I'm no longer part of the evaluation process , I will still be seen by UNC Chapel Hill's Hepatologist but my MELD has been too consistently low ( 7-8 ) to keep me active in the evaluation process . I will be seen yearly by the Hepatologist or unless my G.I or myself see problems . I will have to submit drug and alcohol test every 3 months or so with normal blood work from now on till I become active again .
This is something totally unexpected when you consider where I was at over 4 years ago . MELD of 32 , Liver and kidney failure , Chronic severe ascites , Nearly ruptured umbilical hernia ( Due to ascites ) , Horrible bouts of encephalopathy . I almost died numerous times in the first year and honestly never thought I would be here today . I'm not out of the woods of course , I still have a bad liver with a stint that keeps me going but the fact that I'm here today to be able to deliver this message is nothing short of insane .
Thanks again where thanks is due , Connie , Pink Grandma , David , Carol and a boat load of other people that walked down the path with me to this day via this forum . I'm forever in your debt ....... Well maybe except David . A host of other folks including my parents , Wife and many true friends who watched over me and kept my spirits alive on the home front . I hope to be here typing away for a few more years and helping others as best I can on the next leg of my journey . I just wanted you guys to share in the news .
