I don't know David Mendez, but hubby probably does. He knew most of those guys,,,,or their Dads.

We are listening to Bach now and I am listening to him breath..and he is breathing hard. I keep thinking of the story about the Monarch. In order for the monarch to merge from a caterpiller to a butterfly, he must struggle and struggle to free himself from the cocoon before he can fly. If he doesn't have the struggle, the wings don't fill up and he can't become a butterfly. I keep thinking that this is the struggle for hubby so he can become that other beautiful creature whatever it is.

Funny what people create to comfort themselves. But it is true about the butterfly. Hope so for people. May the evening be gentle on my man...and me.

I am taking very very deep breaths, as I set here with my hubby who passed away quietly 45 minutes ago. We are having our alone time before the hospital takes him one way and I go another. This is that "death do us part" part. As we listened to Haydn Dvorak Cello concerts CD, I heard him take his last two breaths as I asked his deceased family members to come and get him. I like to think they heard me and came to take him.

I am still wrapped in this tight little cocoon, our things all around the room and him laying here with me. But he has shed the cocoon and has flown away, leaving me behind. I have been here 45 minutes and just can't bring myself to give him up yet to all the hospital "tieing up loose ends."

I am glad he is not suffering. I watch his chest and it seems so odd not to see it rise up and down...so many times I have anxiously watched for it, not knowing what it would look like. And now I do.

I don't want to forget this time, so it helps to write it here. Hope no one is offended. You all have helped me through this so much. (I know I am procrastinating.) I have to go. Thanks for the candles to light his way. And for all the support.

I am so saddened to learn of your dear husband's passing. My deepest condolences. In your posts it has been apparent how much you love him. You have been so brave through this journey, honoring his wishes. A shining demonstration of true love until death us do part. Please know that you are in my prayers.

Angie, I am so sorry to read of your husband's passing. It has been a long hard road, and you have been an inspiration for me with your patience and insight. You have fought the good fight, and now your beloved is in a place where there is no pain or tears. His spirit, however will always be with you. May God bless you and cleave close to you as you get through these next days. You are in my prayers, Pam

I can't pretend to know what you are going through right now, but I do know that you both will be in my thoughts and prayers.

 

You have been so strong through it all, and in your deepest despair you were still there providing comfort and support to others, truly admirable.
