Our liver does 600+ jobs in our body. Without the liver doing all these jobs, we get pretty sick. I've read some of the technical stuff and find the liver makes chemical products that make other chemical reactions that keep us alive...too technical for me. It screens and excretes toxin from metals and pesticides. It is a pretty smart organ.
I have learned that digestion is complicated and that if the liver has to struggle with the by products of red meat digestion HARDER than it has to deal with chicken veggies beans fruits just to do the 600+ jobs...why tax it. With it already sick with liver diseas, it has a hard time already.
Mike eats red meat in small qualtities a couple of days a month. The rest of the time we do chicken, fish, big salads, eggs, etc.. Though he finds tomatoes don't agree with him any more.
So...I have not read that red meat causes cirrhosis...it just gives the old liver a harder time than other foods to do all those chemical actions.
