Your mother is very ill.
I agree with others, if she will not or cannot get sober, all will be lost.
Some people who drink a lot get cirrhosis, and it appears your mother is one of the unlucky ones.
A person cannot live without a functioning liver.
I think you live in the UK or maybe Canada by the way you spell behaviour
, maybe AU. The medical system is different than in the US. But your mother needs to be seen by a liver specialist, can you make an appointment, or get a referral?
The system in the UK is not very helpful to alcoholics, wanting to save care expense for those who want to be well.
Can you have a talk with her in a lucid moment? Explain to her that she will die if she continues to drink? That the drinking has poisoned her system and caused her to be confused and disoriented?
Her state is called hepatic encephalopathy. The chemicals that the body does not pass in a bowel movement or as urine can back up into the blood and cause all kinds of trouble...disorientation, kidney failure, coma, death...
Good luck. And such a sad time of year to have this come to a head.
