Hi All,
It's not looking good for my dad, we need to decide if we want to do hospice. My dad is very weak, not eating, very yellow and lost a lot of weight; he can't get out of bed or walk, hard time talking, moans and grunts (but says he has no pain) and sleeps all day. He was so weak yesterday we took him back to the hospital. All the doctors are recommending we stop dialysis and go into hospice that his quality of life is not good anymore and that he will pass away in his sleep/coma if we stop dialysis; and it's the best way for him to pass away. They say with his condition, he has a week if dialysis is stopped. My family and I are leaning toward hospice but sometimes I feel otherwise. It's so hard to make this decision.
Here's a little update on the events that happen in the last 2 month:
-Recovered from the pneumonia but is now on dialysis. Suprised all the doctors because they told us he will not recover.
-Transported to UCLA for evaluaiton and only concern was the mass in the portal vein; bioposy was done and came back positive; therefore no transplant. Dr recommended no treament because his liver will not be able to tolerate it and make him worst.
-Been home for the last 3 weeks and going to Davita for dialysis 3 times a week. He's been very weak the last 1.5 weeks and had been hospitalized 2 times already.
