Liver Biopsy tomorrow and more tests Friday

The waiting for results have began. P.E.T Scan went well. I had read about the procedure and it said 1 and a half hours. It was 2 and a half. 45 minutes of wait before they called him back after drinking their fruit punch flavored drink. Then he said the injected the radiation into his IV. Then another hour wait after that for it to get where it was to go.

As we sat waiting there was a lady, I am happy we met and chatted, awaiting a scan also. She is a success story but her's is stomach cancer that is under control. Her spleen has not taken to treatment and they will be removing it this month.

She was giving him information as to her experiences with chemo. Once a month for 2 days was her chemo plan. This went for a 3-4 month cycle. 2 times this was encountered with a break of about 2 months in her treatment cycle. Just some nausea was her complaint. She kept saying to stay positive to him. I was glad to have met her.

I can't begin to imagine his thoughts. In less that a 12 month period, his company has lost 3 men to various cancers. A good friend and co-worker about 5 months ago. He is still a man of so few words. Very grouchy with me this past week but I would be grouchy too. I don't take it personally.

Non stop rain here for the 3rd day in a row. We live just outside city limits but you would think it was farther. The deer have been out and about much. The turkeys are walking their youngens around proudly.

I was able to get a great photo yesterday of a doe, a turkey and a squirrel at our bird feeder. It is about 6 feet or so from our deck and the doe and turkey shewed the squirrel to the tree so they could eat the black oil sunflower seeds.

It has been entertaining for us. Still waiting for our 2 does to bring the fawns closer. One has 2 and one for the other. They will get close I hope soon for their photo shoot!!

Monday will be slow getting here. Labs and results. Praying and Praying some more!!! Not much of an appetite for him. Even after waiting all day yesterday. We stopped and got us some Jersey Mike's. He said he didn't really want anything. Nausea on the way done. Abdominal pain getting to be constant.

SyXx, I was on guard when we had visitors coming to talk with LJ when he was dying. A family member to be specific. Sad these people are so sick too.

Left with another Biopsy for information. The largest mass in his Liver has to be biopsied. Risky because of the location and surrounding vessels. His colon, lymph nodes and liver cancer are all in an area very closely gathered.

Biopsy will be done through a colonoscopy. Tomorrow or Wednesday. Awaiting schedule from general surgeon, Dr. Hollis. Oncologist is optimistic the even at stage 4 and having Metastatic Disease, it is treatable. And the liver lesions that do not take to treatment will be removed.

They are trying to avoid the colon surgery and colostomy bag if at all possible. BM's still at a minimum. Miralax to be taken because Metamucil 3 x's daily and 4 tablets Senekot daily have shown no results or not enough results.

Awaiting orders for what and when to clean out for colonoscopy. I will pass along info when I can!!

Alisa, I hate that he has to go through all this, but of course if it gives him a chance at living a normal life (without the bag), then he has to do whatever is needed.

Port implant canceled for tomorrow. Colonoscopy and biopsy Wednesday. Hopefully this will tell all and get him on the road to recovery. 9 am tomorrow starts a strict diet and only liquids to cleanse his system. Maybe this too will give him some relief.

Another waiting game but one that will hopefully get him on a road to recovery. I am paying much attention to many details. His daughter is a nurse and when she doesn't get answers from this man of few words, I am asked to fill in the blanks. Paperwork is given at each visit with his Oncologist.

Great news today with the Colonoscopy. No cancer seen at all. 2 small polyps were removed and will be biopsied. No blockage as reported through CT Scan and PET Scan.

They will be doing a Laparoscopy Friday morning to look into all that has been seen through other tests and to biopsy the liver at the largest lesion and any other places they see. Confusing but so very happy there is no cancer in my husbands colon.

Tried to contact his oncologist but she was out of the office today. I will be talking to her asap in the morning. How do they get Stage 4 and Metastatic Disease if there is no colon cancer.

The surgeon told us today he was expecting to view the blockage but there was none. Was going to biopsy the cancer in his colon but nothing except the 2 small polyps were there. Showed us the photos. Colon looks great he said.

He has ordered the laparoscopy and will perform this 5am Friday. I had 100 questions for him but know that he only has what is at hand and he is involved in. So many questions for the oncologist.

I have his lab reports, findings, impressions from his PET Scan last Friday but all are foreign to me. So another wait and see, many questions and hopefully answers very soon. Still Praying for more better than expected results!!
