I was just checking Mark's medical record to get all of his appts. straightened out for the new month coming and noticed he had a new test result.

It was from a urine test he had done at the Dr office.

Albumin,RD Urine,normal range is .0-2 and Marks was 11.00
Micro albumin Ratio normal is 31 he was a 94

I looked it up,I know its his kidneys and can be caused by both Diabetes and Cirrhosis but I still don't understand what it means!

Does it mean he is heading toward Kidney failure ?

Help me understand please !

Robin, how are his creatinine and BUN? I'm more familiar with those as an indication of poor (or good) kidney function.

Both his Bun and Creatinine were in the normal range,that is why I am so confused ! For his blood count his Albumin is low. Going to call the Dr office and see what they say !

Robin,

The urine albumin is indeed an indicator of architectural damage to the kidneys. It may be due to acute kidney injury such as tubular necrosis. It tends to be an earlier indicator than creatinine or a lower GFR.

In the absence normal or elevated albumin levels, I would imagine that some kind of subclinical renal damage would be the cause of the result and would certainly warrant investigation.

Haven't been on the computer much,family from out of town have been in and out the past few weeks,kinda got crazy here !

Dr said Marks counts on the Urine is up due to his Diabetes and High Blood pressure, said not to panic over it. He just had a repeat and are waiting on the results from that.

Mark's ammonia level decided to pop back up, I knew it was up, he was back to sleeping 16-17 hours a day, and moving in slow motion, saying I said things that I didn't, etc. Come to find out, he wasn't taking his lactulose, said he was getting "better" and didn't need it anymore! He drives me crazy!!

I see the surgeon on the 19 th of this month,see what he says about me having surgery.

So besides Mark driving me crazy,and so many visitors, I am still here,,lol

Robin, reminds me of depressed or bipolar patients who stop taking their meds because they "feel so much better" and "don't need it anymore," when actually it is the meds that are making them feel better. When meds are stopped, they go back to how they were before, or worse.

I had to actually stand there and watch Richard take his lactulose or he wouldn't take it...didn't want anymore bm's. But if he were lucid I could usually get him to drink it, it was the times he slid past lucid that I couldn't reason with him. I would just nag until he gave in.

Nice to have family visit but it can sure tire you out. Hope you can get a little time for yourself now :)
