Why would people who do not have liver damage and whose disease has nothing to do with alcoholism or cirrhosis, need to swear off alcohol? Either you're an alcoholic or you're not. Either your liver is damaged or it isn't. My doctor told me there was nothing wrong with social drinking as it has nothing to do with my condition and my liver is not damaged.
As to the main topic of this thread, I think it's fantastic and I wonder if this isn't the drug a guy I know from SF was talking about
. His father had hep c for 30 years and was virus free within a week of tx. In any event it is extremely encouraging.
I have been (and remain) undetectable since 20 days of starting the triple tx. My doctor also told me that if I remain that way for either 6 months or a year ( I can't remember) after the end of tx, I will be considered cured. Not in SVR, but cured. Hep is pretty much all this guy has ever done with his career and I trust him.
Anyway, congrats to the OP and with any luck this will be the beginning of the end for this disease.
