Was at Mayo today for labs and Wound Care. Since there is no infection, there is nothing that Wound Care can do, and is leaving it up to my TC and hep doc to order HH. There really is no need, except for providing me with supplies--gauze 4 x 4s and tape. The nurse gave me a few gauze pads and also abdominal pads and mesh covers that stretch and go over everything. I was just now changing everything and had to sit down for a few min.

I won't get much sleep tonight. Have to get up at 5 to go back to Mayo for labs and appts. with TC, and get infusions. If my potassium is higher than today, then I will skip infusions and be admitted. I will call someone if this happens.

I'm exhausted. Will get info to someone tomorrow.

I overslept. Only had 3 hours' sleep and had to get up at 5. I completely slept through the alarm. Didn't wake up until 1:30 PM. The van left me a no-show notice on my door. I will take cabs tomorrow. I have been on the phone ever since. Thank God my TC didn't flip out on me. She has rescheduled my labs for 8:30 tomorrow and AIC infusion for 9. Found nobody to follow up, but there is a big possibility I will be admitted. A new order has to be put in for Pleurex drainage supplies and PT for another 30 days. Both she and I are working on this. I'm supposed to drain every day now and I am out of supplies. Also, PT will not be coming until new order is placed. I had been told this and forgot, with everything else going on. I will soon be out of Lortab and HAVE to go to my PCP for a new Rx on the 5th. Even if admitted, Mayo will not prescribe it for me. Meds are left up to my PCP, except for Prograf.

That's it for now

Connie's in Jacksonville, FL. There's a Mayo Clinic that does a large number of liver transplants there.

I called the hospital twice and she did not answer.

Mae called the nurse on the floor but as a non relative almost no info was provided

The nurse said Connie was moving to a regular room. We have concluded she was in an acute care area and has improved. Until someone dissuades me of this view, I'm holding on to that.

I guessed all that praying is working.

Keep up the good work, Members!!!

Yes, just knowing she has a watchful eye on her, is being served food, and is getting help with her dressings is a good thing. Hopefully they can manage her fluids/edema too.

Even with only skeleton crews on, it's better than her sitting at home with no help, for sure.

2:15 PM EST Saturday November 30th.

Hot of the press: I got through to the hospital!

Connie was moved from ICU this morning to a regular room. Her sister came to be with her from North Carolina and answered her phone.

Connie’s condition was described at STABLE but guarded. It IS a good sign that she is out of ICU. They had her up walking a bit for the first time in days and that is a good sign as well. She is not eating much.

Evidently the folks from her complex are looking after the cat and her mail.

Her sister couldn’t say enough good things about how the docs/nurses were caring for her. The TP folks say she is not rejecting the liver...so that is good. Breathing and kidneys are the culprits at the moment.

She will carry our greetings to Connie from the HW gang as Connie has an oxygen mask on.

Thanks Carol for the update.... We are thinking of Connie and wishing her a speedy recovery. She has been through so much and keeps chugging along. Glad to hear her sister is with her and her cat is being taken care of. She is an amazing person who has given so much to all of us on this forum.

Hi all,

I am going to lock this thread and start another as we are on four pages of a very closely watched blog of Connie's Post Transplant experience.

Mae called the hospital twice this afternoon and first spoke to a nurse and then to Connie's sister later on.

Connie is awake but unable to chat as she is using an oxygen mask, not just one of those nasal things. Her O2 stats have been too low and she his having some VTach episodes. Her sister continues to report that the staff is on top of things and she is getting good treatment.

I'm so glad to hear that there is family with her...it is important to have an advocate as Connie is in a pretty vulnerable spot. Hopefully she'll be telling them how to run the hospital in another 24-48 hours!!!

And that she'll be back soon correcting my spelling (especially if I try this from my phone)!
