On Saturday morning my husband, Jeff asked me to look at his face. His left eyelid, left side of his face was swollen. He said it felt swollen and numb all the way down his left arm. It subsided by Sunday but he said he felt sicker after that occurrence.

Is this related at all to Cirrhosis, etc or something entirely different?

Time to have a doctor look at that!! I wouldn't even venture a guess. Those signs aren't good in my book.

Better have that checked out. Don't think it's liver related but kinda sounds like stroke symptom.

Having had 2 hemorrhagic strokes, I agree with Ziff.

Keep in mind the symptoms of stroke. There is a 3 hour window where they can reverse much of the damage, using a clot-busting drug.

The face often droops on one side, the speech is sometimes slurred. Ask him to smile and see if it's crooked, or to raise his arms and check that one doesn't reach as high. Then call 911 if you see the signs.

Wow David, you constantly amaze me with your wherewithal, 2 strokes, liver disease and transplant, no caregiver, and you still work at a physical job. And you help so many folks here. turn

Mae, David also has a wooden leg from a incident with a Great White Shark. While fishing he leaned over and his glass eye fell out and rolled down the pier and into the ocean. "I paid good money for that thing" and over the side rail he went. While diving into the murky depths a mermaid appeared and handed him his eye. It was round about this time the shark appeared. A harrowing battle ensued over the maiden. Thrashing, Teeth and fist flying but our hero as always came out on top, Minus a leg but he got the mermaid and his eyeball. Yeah he's kinda like the 6 Million Dollar Man, Just full of different mechanisms but with a dash of Davey Crocket and Mother Theresa.

That you for that information too. I did not notice anything other than the swelling, but I am gonna call the doctor. He was able to smile, that much I do know.

Jeff said he can't have a stroke because his platelets are so low. I doubt that's correct.

Sounds possibly like Bell's Palsy.

I know one person who woke up and by the end of the day it was back to normal. He was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy. They said that if you sleep with a fan blowing on you that it can irritate the nerve and cause this condition.

Just another idea to throw out there.

I hate it when you decie to lose weight and instead you gain so now you have more weight to lose than initially thought. Happens to my mom daily lately. I keep telling her that McDonalds is not a good food source.

I used to go to McD's once in a while until I heard about how they bleach their meat to make it pass inspection, ewwwwww. Haven't stopped there since, and never will.

My mom had Bell's Palsy but it only affected her face.

My stroke was from a bleed, not a blood clot, as my liver was trashed at that point. Low platelets would help cause a hemorrhagic stroke. That's what happened to me. Get him to a doc.
