Mad Doc,
What was Steve Austen"s sidekick named, Oscar something???
I had liver tx in August due to giant cell hep of Cryptogenic origin. Have been on prednisone since 1990. Hep just lowered to 5 mg yesterday! Hoot hoot!!!!I don't get psychological effects from it. I do have bone density and cataract issues.
No Valcyte pre transplant. Only found out about
it wen they give me post tx handbook. of course! one thing I did not have pre! I get exposed to courtesy of my donor. Doc wanted to take me off Valcyte early Feb and start monitoring my CMV levels. I asked to delay a week or so cause in I am going to Florida to visit my parents and I DO not want to get sick while there! Last year, they had to come up to Chicago 3 times. my spleen ruptured last January nearly killing me. In hospital for 45 days and rehab. They also came up in August to help care for me following tx as my husband was swamped at work. There are 79 and 80 and fortunately, in good health both physically and mentally. So this upcoming trip is going to be purely social!!!!!!
have not had any cognitive testing since tx. I notice my vocabulary has come back. just annoying that I have to rely on my Iohone 4s reminders to do stuff! I have a BA in American Cic. and a masters in Museum studies and worked in museums for 22 years before becoming disabled 5 years ago. Don't know if I will return to that field or do something else when I am more fully recovered.
