hepatitis b help me please

Hi out there, thanks for letting me post my questions here, I have just been told or lab work is positive for hepatitis b antigen the test was HBsAg Screen positive, also was tested for EBV ab vca IgM <36.0 and Ebv early antigen ab, igG 50.5 and EBV Ab VCA IgG 510.0 and EBV Nuclear Antigen Ab, 32.1 I don't know what this all means. Also I had RA for the last 6 years and been on Humira for the last 5 years. I hurt now and have been taken off all med's for now. What does this mean? VickieK

Welcome Vickie! Your Doc didn't go into any details about your testing? I would have never left the office until I had real answers that I could understand. They are paid well and you should be a stickler when it comes to your life. Wikipedia has a good description of the HBV Antigens testing and the virus itself. Just enter "Hepatitis B" and scroll down the page to the "Diagnosis" section and it will explain in detail how the testing works.

vickiek hello, sorry you had to find us. your positive test for hep b, can be a problem with humira therapy. not familiar with the EBV blood titers. hopefully this will be a temporary setback. hep b usually resolves without treatment, within a 6 month window. if other tests are normal, hopefully you can get back to your RA med. ask your dr if you can substitute with another pain med.

Hi Iplaycarvin, No have not seen GI doctor yet, the test was done last week and my RA doctor got the results also his office called and told me to quit the humria shots for my RA. because I tested positive for hep B. so I went and got a copy of my lab works and saw all this stuff. I had the shinges about 10 ago I don't know if this is anything or not. I am going for another blood test on Tuesday of this week and go see the gi doctor on wed. also my ast and alt has been going up for the last 3 or 4 months, it was low at first now back in 2007 and now its ast 107 and my alt is 143. I don't drink much or do drugs or have sex I really don't know whats going on. thanks Vickiek

my last 2 sentences should say; hopefully you can get back to your humira, after the hep b resolves. 95% of hep b cases resolve without tx.

I ppmguy, thanks for writing I am on NO Pain meds they said, I had Lortabs/325, tramadol, Ibp, and RA and GI doctors took me off last week I have been looking everywhere on net but I quess I can't understand thanks a bunch. Vickiek
