Please, no need to apologize.
I've been there.
I was so depressed.
I went to see a counselor.
He told me to forgive myself and quit worrying about things I can't change, like what I did in the past to contract disease. It's useless beat one's self up for past behaviors.
I quit indulging in instant gratification behaviors that would do further damage to my liver (drinking, smoking, etc.). I only did healthy things that would promote healing. The liver can regenerate.
I abstained from alcohol for 10 years. My liver remained pretty constant. In 2010, I started drinking a beer now and then, then a few drinks a couple of days a week and my liver got worse.
Now I'm on treatment to clear the sickness and plan to remain abstinent from alcohol until the end of my days. I hope this helps.
We're praying for you to feel better.
