When Mike was going to be in a Sofosbuvir/Riba study late 2013, they told him the minute his hemoglobin dropped they would back off on the Riba to be sure he finished the trial. Dr. Shiff was 100% certain this would not negatively effect the results. I'm sure you will do well. I am very thankful these docs keep in close contact with their patients! My hepatologist told me that people who become anemic, or have those types of issues with ribavirin, have a higher likelihood of SVR. Hang in there, brother.

Hi all, just recd April 28th issue (yes28) of Time Magazine!!! Big story re hep c cures with sovaldi. Also for anyone with or caring for someone with H E, web site HE 123 has lots of excellent info and offers frequent webnars with the American liver foundation...think David or ppm may have been the ones to bring this first to our attention. 13th of 24 weeks..not alot of energy but nothing to complain about
..feeling extremely blessed to be allowed to be a part of such a miracle in medicine!!! Here is to more miracles for all the disease processes! yes!! Yea...sovaldi!!!

Happy Friday....completing week 13 today..of 24..not much energy but no other sides noted. Thinking my rbcs might be coming up some as the stronger ribavirin
Begins to leave my system. Feeling positive. I don't know if anyone has been prescribed counseling by your dr., but I had my first hour talk therapy with a LCSW and it seems like it will make a big difference for me. Nothing else new.
Thankful my tastebuds are still off..metallic taste..which helps my ability to lose weight. Everyone, have a blessed week!

Starting week 14 of 24. Achy and low energy..and very difficult to sleep at night..nothing severe. Worst thing I deal with is not treatment but lactulose....whew...but still thankful for how it helps. Very nonproductive day as still cannot exercise again...looking forward to more energy...one day😊 and to seeing everyone's treatment posts and labs..i am not yet scheduled for any more labs, but would definitely be happy to keep the current undetected status...feel so fortunate...and hopeful as to end result. Will update any changes.

Counseling is a very positive step. Talking to an unbiased professional is key.
When talking to untrained family (brother, sister, mother, father) or friends, bias and preconceptions are the norm.
Good luck with SVR.

Hi all, just a question to anyone on or who has taken ribavirin in the past...all of a sudden this afternoon got first little and now big cold sore on mouth. Called and lw for nurse. Now an hr later, have a few more blister like places in my mouth and one of my eyes feels scratchy. Might just be stress and a very challenging time last night..or could it be our old friend ribavirin?
Any suggestions or comments appreciated.

Yes, Music....Riba causes rashes. And they can last up to 6 months post treatment, as can many Riba sides....but most tend to get much better really fast after stopping Riba. I do follow all of you dragon slayers threads. It is very exciting to watch Hep C be eradicated. Thanks for again posting info on HE. Very important for us caregiver sorts.
The rash on face, neck, chest, back, ankles, was a problem both times my husband treated. He did 24 weeks with Interferon, but no new drugs. Ask your doctor for an RX cream. I have posted the name a few times. The one my husband used was prescript
ionTriacinolone Acetonide Cream USP 0.025%. He had one that was 0.050%, but we found this lower strength helped a lot. Use sparingly on just the rash (not like hand cream...wink*)
Also, any Hydrocortisone cream helps the itch. He could take Benadryl, but now he would not take that, due to HE.
Have you tried Abreva for the mouth (cold sores). It is a dinky tube that costs about
$20 usd. It helps when I get them, and that seems worse with stress. ~sigh~ Big Hugs....you are doing great!

Hi, Dr cld in acyclovir for inner mouth cold sores specialty pharm and sovaldi confirm no interaction...better already...well, I am projecting into next week, I guess...labs again Mon to recheck hemo, rbc, after rib lowered. Expecting better results. Some up and down moods pretty hard hitting during the week, but two hr counseling and hr and half with case mgr rn equals much better. Whew..don't attribute this to treatment..stress..and possibly h e (hope not). Another counseling special for sat (tomorrow)...pray an exciting weekend for everyone. Music. 👱
