Hi everybody, post transplant day 14,
I'm finally but in our home now. I don't need to go back to the clinic until Wednesday the 28th. I feel free now with the few restrictions. No driving for 4 weeks, no lifting over 5lbs for 6 weeks. And make all my labs and clinics. Ny only changes to my medicines are, 5 prograf at 10 & 10, and drop prednisone to 2.5mg per day for the next two weeks, and then discontinue it.

Hey Ron! Very happy to hear that you're feeling good and are back home! Yeah, they try to get patients off the prednisone as quickly as possible. For one thing, HepC loves prednisone, so the sooner you can get off of it, the better.

Please keep us updated on how you are doing. Do they have you doing weekly labs?

I gotta say you have impressed the daylights outta me with this speedy recovery. Glad to see your home and doing well.

Be very careful about lifting anything over a few pounds. I was told not to lift anything over 8 pounds for 6 months. Even then, I ended up with an incisional hernia. It was a tiny one, but it happened a year after transplant. At that point I was allowed to lift 25 pounds.

Same here. Mike got a huge incisional hernia. And Connie's incision never healed. So...let your wife roll the suitcases for a while.

Retired...how are the days going? Being home is likely tiring...the john isn't hanging off the end of your bedrail!!! Ha Ha. Hope progress continues at a rapid rate. Hugs, ML

Hi everyone,
Being home is great. I'm going for walks around the neighborhood. Maggie is constantly on my case, because I would sit still. But it been years since I had this much energy. Just a small amount of discomfort, and little leaks on the top of breast bone scare. And one strange sore near the right side of my belly button. It like a blood blister, that never stops bleeding. My Doctor look at it Friday and say he had never seen anything like it. He is probably going to cut it off Wednesday when I see him. But outside of this I'm doing fine. Thanks Ron and Maggie.

You survived one of the most difficult operations imaginable, it isn't odd that there are a couple of weird side effects. My surgeon said a heart transplant is easier than a liver transplant.
