Like Ziff, I enjoy raking and general gardening. I can get my heart rate up a bit via raking, but I do not have much stamina at all - 10 minutes, I would guess, then a rest and then perhaps a bit more raking.
I take 1/2 mile walks with my dog, very slowly around the neighborhood.
I must care for my chickens twice daily at least. I love the girls, and I am glad they are a reason I have to put my shoes on and get out to the coop. I have six chickens. They are just the cutest, funniest things you have ever seen. And I get eggs. : )
I can sometimes do things like go to Costco and the like, but by the time I get in the car to drive home, I can feel the fatigue and generalized loopy-ness. I can feel that I am slightly impaired with driving home, and when I get home, I generally need to go directly for a long (2+ hour) coma-like nap.
Fortunately, my son accompanied me today, and he drove home and put away all the giant packages.
MD basically wants me to take it easy, perhaps taking gentle short walks a couple of times a day when I feel up to it. He wants no jerking or straining or lifting, running, yada yada, you get the idea, due to the two hernias I have, the portal hypertension, the distended spleen, etc.
The MD would prefer I do no scrubbing or vacuuming, or for that matter, raking. The day will probably come when I will no longer be able to do those things. Until then, they are part and parcel of my life as a stay at home parent.
