Great West Life - are they good on coverage Sovaldi + Olysio (Galexus)

Hi folks,

I thinking to accept 2 job offers and one company covered by SUN Life ( which i heard has a good plan) the other one is Great West Life. I have no idea if they are good and easy to cover Sovaldi + Olysio (Galexus).
Please share with me your experience.
I realize that each plan is different even with the same insurance company, but at least to know the possibilities would be good.

Neither one will approve sovaldi and olysio together. No insurance co. Can prescribe this combo. It is not approved.

I understand that some people are getting this treatment. These people have no other good option, and are close to death or transplant . Of you have your heart set on sov/olysio , it will probably be two years.

Dr Wong gave you good advice. In 6 months there will be a super tx available, that insurance will cover

SunLife Financial covered my three month treatment of Sovaldi+Ribavirin but I had to pay $3000 CDN but was fully covered after that. Plan was through my wife and she is a government worker or public service worker.

I had no problem paying the 3K as I just wanted to be cured.

I think the Sovali/Olysio answer may be based on a Canadian view. Mike has his Sovaldi/Olysio combo paid for in full by FL Medicaid. The critera were strict...Genotype 1a, previous non responder considered Interferon intolerant with advanced liver disease.

was 1a, failed the 2003 Interferon/Riba treatment with horrible side effects/transfusions/needed procrit and neupogen shots to recover, etc.

Needed procrit and neupogen shots to recover, etc.
and had a viral load varying from 3M to 53M post liver transplant

This meant he was ill again post transplant and Interferon intolerant...

He cleared the virus in 4-5 weeks.

And had NO copayment.

They saved his life a second time...is my opinion.
