Thank u for sharing with me about this also was wanting to know is anyone having a hard time loosing waght on this treatment I been on a diet and working out for 4 months now and I lost 40 pound and I worry I will gain it back from being tired all the time I still want to loose another 25 pounds thanks again for being here for me and sharing what u know

Thank u I am going to do the treatment no matter what I was just wondering about a few things I feel lucky to be starting this new treatment and feel blessed to be able to do a pill form only :)

Thank u AnnaB I wish u the very best with ur new treatment :) and I'm so glad to heir that this treatment is is doable it is very scary to live with this hep c I found out I had it when I got blood work done after becoming pregnant I don't know how long I have had I just hope and pray for all of us living with this to get better and live long healthy life :)

Good going on your start day...and your fluid intake. 1/2 your body weight in oz of water over the course of the day. You want to keep it more spread out, not flooding all at once. It becomes pretty routine to drag your water bottle around all day :) Sides normally start after taking meds awhile, but everyone reacts differently. And some stress when starting does not help at all. Do you take Nexium or Omeprazole? . Those treating find that helps with some stomach upset some have. Cheering you on from AZ! Big Hugs

Hi Iamhmanley and to the group. I will be posting an official intro but your post caught my attention in the menatime. I am a single mother with a 12 year old. I was diagnosed w hep c in 1994 but am pretty sure i caught it in the mid to late 80s. I decided to hold off on any treatment all these years due to inteferon, the high % of bad side effects and the lower success/cure rate for my geno type. I have geno type 1a. with the guidance of my most excellent doctor we've been monitoring the health of my liver until an interferon free treatment became available. So even though the recommendation was for 1a to include interferon, there was very promising clinical study results w/o interferon, just the ribiviron and solvaldi but like it was for 24 months. I choose to go w the interferon free 24 week route

I started end of Jan and am approaching my last day July 15. It has not been easy for me. If my son was a toddler I would have had to stop treatment. I have had many rough days including a trip to the er as i was starting to get some shortness of breath on top of the on going nausea and weakness/dizzness, insomnia, extreme fatigue, very pale and depressed feelings.

I never got to the anemic status but have been borderline. My doctor, family and friends have been supportive and helping me to hang in there. Though I have had many nights and days where i just had stay in bed, i did sleep like you mentioned in your early post, just dosing off (it's true) and I am extremely cranky/irritable, w moments of what they call ribiviron rage. It is absolutely real. I've had Bad insomnia pretty much throughout the entire time but not every single night. You just wake up after about 2-3 hours of sleep and can't go back to sleep. Plus it givers you crazy dreams. I've had some days w vomitting but mostly I've experienced bad nasea.

The good news, is that i had a rapid response to the medications and my liver function tests and viral load were normal for the first time in almost 25 years and I do have good days in between. On the good days, i feel like i haven't felt in years. My normal liver funtions and undetectable viral load has remained normal up until my latest labs a week or so ago.

My doctor is very optimistic that i should achieve the cure/svr status based on these results but we won't be able to confirm that until 6 months after my last dose.

I have compared my experience w a few other patients. Some have breezed through this w very little side effects but some had to stop. I have hung in there but i also have been on temp disability and my son is more self sufficient at 12. if i had to work or take care of a 3 year old i would not have been able to finish over the 24 weeks.

I will reach out to the group for an into and also because I am very curious how long other members noticed it took for the side effects to subside from the last dose. I've heard it could take another few weeks to a month to get the ribiviron out of your system and feel better.

Since you have just started yesterday, see how it goes. you may get through the treatment with managable side effects or none at all. if they get to unbearable to where you can't take care of you child, you can always restart it in the future. I have had hep c for at least 25 to 30 years and have a pretty health liver. I just have just been feeling really fatigued about 80% of the time for the past 10 years or so though i have maintained a high level demanding job and being a single mother feeling that way all these years. Just a little up date on how I'm doing day 5 of my treatment I'm doing great I had a few side effects on day 1 but that was it I'm feeling good and not really experience anything bad I'm so happy to be able to do this treatment god is good!!! :))
