Scared and Sad's dad has esld...alcoholic cirrhosis Volume II.

Dad isn't doing good has gone downhill, he aspirated last night they had to stick that tube down his throat, he did not like it, I rushed to the hospital, he did not look as I saw him earlier in the day and he was awake and then that happened. He was doing good for 2 days then that happened.

He has thrown up green, and we have asked for morphine. He is now slurring his speech cannot move, my sister lifted up his arm and it just dropped. I think he may be going back into a coma. I'm so very sad, but I don't want dad suffering anymore!!!!!!!!!!

He was hallucinating some in the past few weeks.

We got a call this morning and my dad's father had a heart attack last night. How much more can go on, his dad is 82, but right now we are going through so much, I just saw his dad at the hospital a few days ago, he looked so upset. And he lost his wife 3 months ago....I'm home for a few mins to get clothes and I'm going back to the hospital. My mom and sister are there and don't know what to do, they are asking me, I said ask the doctor. I guess so many emotions run wild right now. Dad has no idea what is going on. I just want him comfortable that is what I told my sister , that is our goal now.

I think he may be slipping into another coma. If it is close, please pray that my dad has a peaceful passing.

You know we are all with you in spirit. I suppose there is no point in telling your Dad about your grandfather's heart attack, in his condition. I'm sorry you have all this on your plate right now.

I hope your Grandfather gets better, and that your Dad, if it's close, does have a peaceful passing.

Seems like when it rains, it pours. Again, we are here for you anytime you need to unload.

Jodi, I haven't been posting much, but I have been following along with your posts. I just wanted you to know that I do daily keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs, Shannon

I agree with Mae be here... It's not like Jodi to update us every few days. I hope that all is well with her dad.

My dad passed away last evening at 12:35 a.m. it was a rough day for him, but we were by his side the whole time. My mom and my sister were with him when he passed away. We helped him let go, he wanted to let go and we helped him through it. They did not have a bed for me so I slept outside the hospital in my sisters SUV, i went to sleep about an hour before he passed and I think that is the way he wanted it. My sister and mom were with him holding his hand. His MELD score as of monday was 38. The doctors did everything they could for him and we had 3 wonderful weeks with him, some sad some happy.

My dad is in a better place now and no more lactalose, no more pain, no more suffering and most importantly we were there for him every minute in his final hours.

i got to tell my dad yesterday that I loved him and that he was a great father to me. after he passed I kissed his forehead and told him I love him. He is in a better place with no more suffering.

Oh, dear...such sad news. Some of these passings are more gentle than others. When your Dad's time came, his family was with him to send him lovingly from this world. My best to all of you. The next days will be filled with the busy-ness of whatever funeral tradition is followed in your family. I hope you can take some time to reflect on how proud he must be of his family. Oh, Jodi. My heart aches for you and your family. I reiterate what others have said: your dad knew/knows how much you love him and you did all the right things by him. I wish there were magic words to numb the inevitable pain and sorrow your family is going through, but just rely on each other as you have been through this time. Hugs, Shannon

hi everyone, thank you. I am at my moms now, it is different without dad here, and different not going to the hospital everyday. We did all of the arrangements yesterday, we are resting him where all my family is, what an amazing gorgeous place it is. His wishes was cremation and no funeral, so that is what we are doing. My mom, my sister and I are going along with all his wishes.

The last day wasnt normal the doctor said, my dad was awake all day and right up to the end, he never lapsed into a coma, but im sure happy we were there to guide him and help him let go, as we did.

my dads last words to my mom was, The Light, The Light.

Splashdancer, my dad passed from kidney failure as well, in the end his kidneys failed (hepatorenal syndrome). Yes, its hard I now know what you were talking about with Robert. Thank you for always being there for me.

No problem, Jodi. So many people on this forum were here for me during Robert's illness and then his death - they helped me through some very dark days. And if I can help do that for someone else, it helps. The deaths still hit me hard and I always cry, both for their loss and mine - but I feel I need to keep reaching out. I so wish things would have ended differently for you and your family. Also, once things settle down, please come back and visit. Your insight would be invaluable to others on this terrible journey.
