Hey guy.. I have hep B since long time back and recently I went to yearly regular check up. My liver function test is normal and My DNA HepB virus count drop down as compare to last year!! But doc look at my ultrasound result and said I may have liver cirrhosis.. I want to know how accurate is ultrasound and how much reliable is ultrasound to diagnose liver cirrhosis.... With hearing about that cirrhosis news, it **** up my mind and all the time I am thinking of that.. Huh!! Doctor take me few more blood for further test!! The result didn't came!! Doc said he will call me within week!! Tomorrow complete one week since that blood sample take for further test.. But he didn't call me!! I feel terrible..



But for the pass few days I try to do YOGA !! There are many yoga for the liver and many other disease.. Or organ!!

I felt like I feel much better since I start doing yoga .. I did yoga watching the YouTube!! I think you guys have to try Yoga too!!

Nothing to loose In doing that !!

Hi Ten -

US can certainly be suggestive of cirrhosis but the definitive way is still a needle biopsy. Biopsies are a bit risky (although small) so they will mostly shy away from doing it unless there's a good reason for it.

With US, they will look at: nodularity (echo-coarseness), caudate lobe/right lobe ratio along with other morphology changes (size, etc) and sometime the gallbladder fossa. Secondary signs that the US can key on are: enlarged spleen, varices, recanalization of the paraumbilical vein and vascular patency.

Is any of what I listed also on your US report from the radiologist? The new blood work can help things as well and we can guide you in what to look for there, if you need.

Cirrhosis isn't the end of the world so try not to let it get to you - I know, easier said than done. You're certainly in the right place for people/friends to help you along. Take care!

Bblbt.. Lot of thanks to you bblbt.. Actually I don't have my ultrasound report.. And my doctor had that and I didn't ask for the ultrasound report!! He said your liver function is normal and DNA HepB virus count come down compare to last year.. So I don't have any idea about all the least you mention above..
Another thing is doctor said something like my liver is lumpy bumby.. And I ask what lumpy bumpy means .. And doc said your liver surface is uneven..liver surface Not smooth.. He said normally surface of the liver is smooth.. But my liver not smooth!! I don't know.. Is cirrhosis is the only cuase for uneven liver surface or there is some other reason which make liver surface not smooth!!

Not to alarm you but it sounds like your doctor is referring to the "nodularity" I had mentioned. There are a few uncommon diseases that can cause macro-nodularity without the architectural changes that cirrhosis imposes but I think, given your long history of Hep-B, you may have to assume that your virus is the cause.

You need to wait for all the extra blood work to come in. It's possible to have cirrhosis and normal enzymes so all the additional data will help. In particular, your synthesis function and blood stats will guild them in the final assessment. Again, feel free to ask us or me if you'd like help in this area. Also, please get yourself a copy of the US report - it's something you should have on hand to show other doctors if needed and we can help you with the details too.

If you're just becoming cirrhotic now, be assured that your at the beginning phase, "compensated", which is good and you sound healthy so you maybe like this for years to come.

Ten I just saw your post on my thread. I'm so glad you started your own thread. I will keep checking to see how you're doing. I was just diagnosed with cirrhosis in March of this year but it is relatively advanced. It sounds like yours may be a bit younger. I'll be thinking of you and following your posts.
