Anti depressants for RIBA rage?

Well here I am at 4 1/2 weeks into my 24, having the same type of side effects that several others are speaking of. But OMG! Is this ME? While I do have many really challenging situations which I'm facing during this treatment, but some of my responses are truly making things worse. I briefly considered spray painting a big " f@&$ YOU" on an ex's front door a couple days ago. I didn't, but then managed to say enough hurtful things that would have made the art work seem preferable. :(((( this is NOT my usual style, trust me.
If I'm having this at 4 1/2 weeks in, should I expect things to stay this way the whole time? Would you say that these types of reactions could be helped by an A.D.? Thank you,

Since you are doing the 24 weeks, you may want to consider asking your doc for an AD. Themister was RX'd Zoloft before his first treatment. I think that was a very good idea. He tolerated Zoloft well. He stopped the AD at the end of 1st treatment. (he relapsed the 1st time)

The 2nd treatment was with a new doc 6 years later. This doc wanted to wait and see if riba rage raised it's ugly head. Of course it did!! So he started Zoloft...and I can not tell you how happy that made both of us! Know the riba will take some time to wash out after the end of treatment. If you do start an AD, you may want to wait to stop that med a couple months after treatment is over. Big Hugs

Thanks a bunch Themiz. It actually helps so much just hearing that this isn't just "the new me" and that other people have experienced this and gotten some relief. I'm sorry others have had to go through it ( and are now going through it) because it's kind of scary. I'm on such a stew of meds current ( about ten different types) that I was reluctant to add something else but since I'm not very far into the 24 weeks yet it sounds like a good idea. Especially since the RIBA takes a little more time to exit the system after treatment is complete.

hi plant, i also was rxed zoloft during my last tx. it took 3 weeks for it to kickin. it did help some with anxiety, but i still had that riba uneasiness for an hour after taking my dose.

Thanks ppm guy- gee if it takes 3 weeks to kick in maybe I should get on this now. It sounds like it may help me. I hope so... I have so much to be grateful for and don't like being so mean.

My hep doc put me on 100mg of zoloft 6 wks before starting riba/interferon/sovaldi. I knew within a few days zoloft was not my friend. I felt strange, withdrew from everything and was miserable. I asked my bff after a few weeks on zoloft if I seemed "goofy" to her, she paused said not goofy but not as sharp as normal, as if you are very tired. I stuck with it for about a month into tx and decided I couldn't take it along with the side effects from the hep meds. I stopped it and was glad I did. When I treated my hep in 07-08 with riba/interferon, I was on Effexor and had no problems, felt great the entire tx period. Good luck PE, I hope it gets better for you.

Pet, AD's are not for everyone, are they? I can not take them (no liver disease, but there has been depression in my life, and AD's were worse than the depression for me...so I get it.) Oh, and I would not advise AD, pain meds, sleep meds, or benzo's to anyone with hepatic encephalopathy (HE). They make HE off the charts. Not worth it when they don't work right ;) Big Hugs

Gee thanks Pet and Themiz! I don't mind hearing different peoples' experiences at all- boy we all are really just trying to live our best lives, right? I'll just try to make the best choice. I can always change my mind later. Today I feel a little less loosely wrapped!

LOL!! 97 id like nothing more than to rage a bit for you. It'd probably make me feel a lot better!! Im so sorry that you're going through this ridiculous infuriating process.

Hi Plant,

Here's my 2 cents on your tough situation...

Now is not a good time to figure out if an AD is right. It's all about finding the right one and there's so many that it's a bit of a needle in a haystack/crap shoot. Even if you find the correct drug, adjustments are often needed and by the time you get that sorted out, the treatment will be over. JMO.

Something that helps me with stress is deep breathing. I know it may sound like an over-simplied answer but give it a try. Search for "Breathing Zone" on iTunes (if you have a smart device) and check it out. I myself was skeptical but now call it "candy for the soul"!

HF thank you! I have nothing to lose except my own stress and anger. :) it's a very good idea, and comes without a single additional side effect. I'm going to try it. I appreciate the idea- the iTunes "Breathing Zone" have some nice tracks on there that will help make it easier to chill out.

Great Plant. Let me know how it works out for you.

When I first began using it, I found that it took a few minutes to get into it but by the end of the time (usually 10 minutes) I was always incredibly relaxed and sometimes asleep, LOL. I personally like the "Singing Bowls" and I also turn off the narration.
