Sov/Riba/Peg Treatment

Hi HF,

I'm so happy you're sleeping!! I'm doing really well...I have an appt Aug 7 for bloodwork and a follow-up. As for sleeping...it has most definitely improved. I'm having a bit of trouble going to sleep because of TOO MUCH energy....I'm seriously not kidding! For eg...I'm tired, I go to bed, but after relaxing for a bit it's like I'm no longer tired. However when I do get to sleep, I'm sleeping well (if I wake up it's easy to go back to sleep, no sweats, no restless legs). The extra energy is unreal (I don't think my body knows what to do with itself now that it's 'well')...I may get a bit sleepy certain times of the day (around 3pm), but then I get a second wind and I'm go go go. For the past 3 years I've been taking Melotonin basically every night...during treatment it would easily take 10mg to get even remotely close to falling asleep. I've probably used it 3 times since I've completed treatment....3 mg will knock me out for a solid 8 hours! The ONLY issue I seem to have is heartburn...during the last few weeks of treatment it was really bothersome...this has continued (there doesn't seem to be anything particular that triggers it). I started drinking 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar in 8oz of water every morning and night 3 days ago, and I've had no burning episode since yesterday around noon (this is a huge relief). I've gone to the gym a couple of times and surprised myself at how much I'm able to do cardio wise because I thought for sure I wasn't going to be able to do a decent workout (make no mistake that I'm still out of shape, but I was easily able to do 45 mins uphill when I was worried I wouldn't be able to do 15). I've had no dizzy spells, no headaches, muscle aches are gone....again, not sure if I even remember feeling like this since it's been so long!!! I'm sure a lot of it is also psychological. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my bloodwork will continue to be fine

ACV seems to be working it's magic. Still no incidents of the acid reflux so I'm quite happy. My energy is still up quite a bit...a short break is really all that's necessary when I'm tired or sleepy. Lol, I'm going to need to take up some new hobbies with the extra hours. How are YOU doing??

Totally know what you mean about waiting...I just had bloodwork done on Thursday and it will take a couple of weeks before I get the results. As long as it comes back still UND, then I go back in 6 weeks, then 12 weeks, then 6 months, and 1 year. Yes I know...this doctor is crazy about getting bloodwork (though I'm not impressed with how long the results take :( ), but from what the nurse said, it's because they want to document as much as possible with Sovaldi.

Lol...hobbies....I WISH I could garden. I definitely do NOT have a green thumb. I love plants, but sadly since I know nothing about them I usually kill them off. Simple vegetables have worked for me, but other than that, a few low maintenance house plants is all that I'm able to keep alive lol. I'm thinking of getting into fitness more. which is going to be an effort. I have lbs to lose (like 70), though am quite active (I walk A LOT and I was going to the gym 4-5 times a week), but not anything close to being athletic. I figure after having the blessing of this treatment, I should REALLY start respecting and taking care of my body....this is an opportunity I never thought I would have so I want to make the most of it. I made a goal with my daughters (who are 13, 16, 20) that we would "train" and attempt one of those mud obstacle courses 1 year from now. Not sure exactly what I got myself into At least I can try different things with this idea...ie yoga, cycling, zumba...lol. I also love to read, so I might join a local book club or set up a list of books to finally get to. Please let me know what ideas you come up with !!!

I'm glad you love Canada!! I feel blessed to be able to live in such an amazing country. I live near Toronto, Ontario (about 15 miles outside, in the suburbs). Our weather is pretty decent since we are so far south...the seasons are quite varied, but not too extreme like they are further north. I've traveled to quite a few places and couldn't imagine living anywhere else (though a few months here and there in the tropics could be nice :) )
What about you? I have family in Chicago and Texas (though I haven't been), and have visited New York a number of times.

Hi C73, glad to know you are doing well and feeling good. I know exactly what you mean about the hair loss. I have lost half of my hair since stopping treatment, luckily I had very thick hair, but the loss is distressing. I will have my 12 wk post tx lab on Oct. 7 and I hope I am still undetected. Hopefully the hair loss will begin to subside soon. Again, I'm so pleased to hear your good news and words of encouragement.

Oh thank goodness I'm not the only one....sorry, misery loves company :/ I'm also lucky because my hair was thick and it's curly, so that change isn't so outwardly noticeable. I'm not complaining of course because themiz is absolutely right....I would much rather be bald and still have my liver. I'm really confident that the 12 week testing will be undetected...I know how I feel and each day there are more and more pluses!
