Liver Transplant Tonight

My Co-Moderator in Hepatitis, themiz, is at Mayo AZ tonight with themister (also a member). After 3 false alarms, heading to Mayo overnight only to be sent home, they got "the call" this evening and think that THIS IS IT for the mister.. He should be transplanted over night and then the real healing begins for him.

They have had a terrible couple of years with major life threatening crises, moved half way across the county to be close to a transplant center, then waited and waited and waited for it to be themister's turn..

Their prayers may be answered tonight.

Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Themister called the tx coordinator yesterday. He wanted to understand why no call since Jan 26. It seems 14 people have become ahead of him on the list.

I guess several were ahead of him before (we never asked where he was on the list). Seems they were sick, too sick, chose not to go, or did not accept the offer...so they called themister. He was back-up a couple of times....but once, prepped due to the primary being too sick.

We can not believe this!! Who gets called in 4 times, has organ rejected twice right when they are ready to be wheeled into the OR.......THEN drops down this far on the list?? Never have we heard of such an experience. A cruel joke. We are processing. Not sleeping well. Frustrated. At an emotional low point. It may be months? May be tomorrow.

He is now officially listed with UNOS at 18. Another lab on Feb 9th. I want each of you to know how much your support means to us. Thank you. Boy, we really need support now. Big Hugs

I can't even begin to imagine the stress or disappointment you and themister are experiencing. It sounds unusually cruel. You are both in my prayers, for rest, peace ... and favour with the decision makers.

You have been a rock to many folks on here, themiz, and we so appreciate everything you do. Thank you so much ... and know there are many here who care for you.

Others are sicker. Not sure why themister was called in as back up 3 times, and once called for HIS call. All in 10 days?? But, we only get limited info on "the process". His MELD stays at 18 with UNOS, MELD Na 20. We were told there are 14 ahead of him at this time.

I can not explain how it feels to be called in. The fear, joy, emotions all at once. Then to be sent home. Then do that 4 times in 10 days and have the calls suddenly.....stop. Tough stuff. Thanks for the support. We love you guys. Big Hugs

David, this is what I think...sent her an email about the many imneological details that lead to best outcomes...not just a b o blood types. And like you where an teen liver was okay for you but wouldn't have worked for a 300 lb 6 foot tall football player.

I sure hope their time comes soon.
