Hey Ron! I'm very happy to hear that your transplant went so smoothly - 3 and 1/2 hours, that's great! And you are already up, posting and texting away! Just so happy for you and your wife. Keep us updated!

Ron...this has to be a record!

But please remember this is a really big deal. You new liver has 600 jobs to do while your old body works tirelessly to reject that errant newcomer. New meds have to get balanced, all the connections have to work. Don't be surprised if you are not dancing in the next 5 minutes.

Hi everyone I wish all you wonderfullymothes a Happy Mother's day. I Will treasure this new gift that I was lucky to receive, I have been praying for the Donors Family since I have received the call. But no I don't think I'll be dancing in 5 minutes. Opp the nurse just drain my two drained balls. I don't know what they call them but the suction inside me is painfully. But am I'm totally grateful for the wonderful gift I have received, and I can deal with the small amount of discomfort. I will treasure this and pray for everyone to receive a easy time like I have had. I look at this as an act of GOD and all the prays I had received from so many people. GOD DOES ANSWER PRAYS. Amazing, still so impressed you are doing so well so quickly. Hopefully that means you can go home soon. Just getting home will help recovery I am sure.

You will be doing a happy dance soon enough.

Hi Ron... Congratulations! I can't believe how quickly you are recovering. That's fantastic that your transplant took only 3 1/2hrs. How quickly did they remove your breathing tube?
Continue to keep us posted.

WE2, It was removed yesterday around 11 or 12 in the morning. I was glad to yet rid of it cause I thristy for water. Thanks you for asking. Ron

Hi Everyone,
Well Saturday will be 41 weeks since my transplant. We are going to celebrate by going on a cruise. I'm almost 100 percent again. Still a little tender around the scare area. I only taking prograf, and Cellcept. The hardest thing now is remembering to take my medicines on time. I had blood test for hepatitis C last week, 3months after my treatment ended. I am undetected. I hope it stays that way.

Ron and Maggie, A cruise sounds wonderful! I long for the day themister will be where you two are. Our life has been on hold "waiting" for years now.

I never will forget you were posting just 12 hours after transplant. That was exciting to read, and I loved your story.

If you check back in and have time, can you tell me where your MELD was the day of transplant? My husband had 4 calls last month, one was his call. A bad organ. The other 3 were back up calls. One of the back up call patients turned out to be too sick the night he was to be transplant, and my husband was prepped for surgery, had seen the anesthesiologist, ready to roll into surgery, but again....the liver was no good. So here we continue to wait. Others are now ahead of him on the list. 14 others, last we heard.

Atlanta, GA and most southern states have a lower MELD for transplant, we hear. Would love to know from you on the weeks leading up to your call.

I think I remember you were taking Solvaldi pre and post transplant when this was a new concept. What a 2nd gift you have been given now cured of Hep C. Those of us who know this Hep C journey, really understand what you have survived to be here posting.

I do hope you and Maggie have the very best cruise adventure, the best year, and enjoy every moment of your wonderful life. I rejoice with you. You give me hope for brighter tomorrows, Ron. Big Hugs

I'm sorry to hear that you have had 4 false calls. I am praying that you get the real call soon. I kind of feel guilty that I had an so-called easy road with hep-c and my transplant, compare to most here. I only wish everyone could have it easier than I had it. To answer your question about my meld score before they took me into the operating room, it was 25, but that was with the increase for HCC. I was on hep-c treatment prior to the transplant. I think it was 4weeks into the treatment. The day of transplant I was 36 million. 5 days after transplant I started hep-c treatment again. I completed the treatment on 15 Nov. it's been 3months, now I am undetected and have to do the my last blood test for hep-c on 15 May, before they say that I'm free from the silence dragon.

I'm sorry for taking so.long to reply, but I just returned from our cruise. We had a great time, and my on-board expense account was the lowest I had ever had. NO BEER. "another first for me". My wife had a great time not having to compete with the beer I used to drink.

Ron, I, for one, think you killed the virus! So happy you are undetected and have every reason to think you will remain so at EOT 24 weeks.

We don't think about Hep C as a hitch hiker in themister's body any longer. Just living with the damage the virus did. Trying to keep positive.

I am so glad you and Maggie had the chance to take a post-transplant cruise. I want to do that again, having cruised much from 1980 until 2008. Miss doing the fun parts of life, and sure hope we have a chance to do it all again. We are not expecting perfection Ron, just some sort of normalcy. Difficult to see themister struggle year after year. Your updates give us much hope.

You keep living your wonderful life! Enjoy every bit of it. Big Hugs to you both
