My husband, Ron, received a liver transplant 4 years ago. He was diagnosed with Hep C in 1993, and developed liver cancer in 2010. He was placed on the transplant list, the summer of 2010 and received his new liver February 3, 2011. Approximately 10 days after surgery he went back in for a leaky bile duct, many anti-rejection medication issues (HALLUCINATIONS!), developed a rare lung 'thing' mucormycosis, blood sugar all over the place (sky-high trip to ER, bottomed out several times and trips to ER), 2012 he had a heart attack and
open heart surgery, 2013 a stroke and carotid artery surgery. Thank goodness 2014 was quiet for us.
Friday was Ron's yearly check up and his first liver biopsy since receiving his beautiful new liver. His blood work has been fabulous through the years, let's hope he liver looks as good as it acts - the doctor told us once - the liver really likes it in there!
As the years have rolled by with all the trials and tribulations - we are the proud grandparents of 6 grandchildren (6 and under) - life goes on - we're very lucky - yes, we know it!
Many blessings to all.
Pam and Ron
