I am so happy to report that I completed 12 weeks of treatment on Sovaldi and Riba three weeks ago and the virus has been undetected since the first lab work one month into treatment. I will test again next week. Thanks to all for your comments, suggestions and support. You have helped me greatly.

Shortly after I finished treatment I began having serious night sweats. I never had them before or during treatment except for a short time about 5 years ago when I was likely going through menopause. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced night sweats following treatment??
Also within a week or so of finishing treatment I developed a cyst near my shoulder that the dr says is a fat filled cyst called a lipoma that is nothing to worry about. One of my fingers is also swollen and I the dr is not yet sure if it is also a cyst or joint pain from swelling. Again, I have never had any cysts, swelling of my joints, etc.
Just wondering if anyone has experienced any of these things post treatment?

I have found that my liver disease triggers night sweats for me, too. Eating the wrong food or not getting enough sleep ... there are lots of "triggers" ... for some women menopause just goes on and on and on ... it goes away for a few years then comes back with a vengeance. I've been in it off and on for 10 years.

Sorry don't know anything about cysts or joint pain.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Hoping sudden night sweats are not due to a relapse but, if so, I will deal, as I always have, with this disease. I have found a lot of strength from all on the forum, the triumphs as well as those who are having to fight so hard and their caretakers who are truly an inspiration. HW

I hope the night sweats are not anything to be concerned with. Perhaps something from the riba. Delayed reaction?? Riba has a lot of sides that are unpleasant, and some came along toward the end of treatment for themister.

He did develop a cyst on his neck about the size of an egg cut in half. It was a benign cyst. Drained it, filled back up, and it took two year to go away gradually. The IR that drained it also performed his TIPS the following year. Who knows if it was related to treatment, but it seemed rather odd timing. We were concerned because themister's Dad died young...from lymphoma. This benign cyst popped up about the 16th week.

Also, he got the riba rash on his face the last month. Riba takes up to 6 months to wash out of your system. I hoped those on the 12 week treatment would not have as many icky sides with the shorter, non-interferon treatment. I am so glad you are done.

Let us know what you find out about the night sweats.

Thanks so much Themiz- I will tell my doctor about the my cyst and Themister's-- I think its helpful, especially to the research doctors, to know what possible side effects people get (that may not be documented by the pharma company) so people don't get so worried when they get them. My guess is that the cysts are from the riba. and the sweats as well-- thinking my body is just trying to rid itself of the drugs?? I will let all know results of tests when I get. In the meantime, we await the most perfect liver for Themister. GC

Hope you are coming through the EOT a little easier now, GC.

I seem to have developed a eczema or psorias on my hands. Went to a NON VA dermatologist, and he just gave me an ointment. Didn't seem to work that well. Now just taking benedryl and regular hand lotion and it seems to normalized a little. I should go back to VA; but they are so slow, it would take them 3 months before I see anybody. I go back for 3 month test in July, so if it is still an issue then maybe the NP, will fast track it somehow. I sent her an email; however, no response in over 2 weeks. (I guess once my treatment was over, they didn't feel the need to respond any further).

I still feel very fortunate to have gone thru the treatment relatively unscathed.

Thanks L.A. S - Starting to feel better-- hoping to get my same energy level by end of summer. Also so grateful for having been able to be treated and have been helping people who are being denied when possible. It is frustrating that the Drs are not interested in side effects or how patients do following the medication provided they have no viral load.
The VA should not be permitted to treat its patients like that. All need to be reminded of why we all have a day off on Monday and on Veteran's Day. Enjoy your weekend.
