Lost the first part of my post . Maybe today is a forgetting day. HE still bad. I guess I am blanking out for part the day and as my husband says "doing stupid things" I went in for my regular check up and dr. said all blood work in range MRI ok and meld score at 5 which is really low. But I am still at ESLD. I just have to admit to myself that my husband is right I do and say things that are not true about him when HE is at a high. Dr. says I should take my lactulose and zifaxan . So first I was cryptogenic, then possible A,B,G, next cronic A, then ten years later I'm possible fatty liver.
shocked Is it possible to go into a coma when you are having a really bad HE attack. Don't worry about me themiz I have a very lively imagination. And I go to the best Dr. in Az. as do you and themister. Thanks you are so much for at least listening to my ramblings.

If your HE is bad, you can increase your lactulose until you are clear headed. How often do you take Xifaxan and lactulose, and how much? Big Hugs

I take about 9Tbsp. a day lactulose . Sometimes more. And xifaxon one. I did notice my new prescription says 1 xifaxon twice a day. So which should I take more of the lactulose, xifaxon or both. I also take 1 spironolactone daily and 2 atenol. Thanks for your help, I no longer know who I am. I have no identy. lav.

My husband takes 2- 550mg Xifaxan, per day(one morning, one bedtime). This is usually how Xifaxan is RX'd for HE. He also takes 40-45 ml lactulose 4 times per day, as well as 2 diuretics and Nexium (omeprozole). If the HE is worse, his Hepa at Mayo said to increase the lactulose. Sorry you are having such a struggle with HE, lav. Be really cautious of any other medications like pain meds, sleep meds, and anxiety meds. These things make HE so much worse. I have heard so many horror stories with HE and drugs like Ambien and Xanax. Those two, and narcotic pain meds seem to be a nightmare for folks with HE. Hope your evening is a good one. Big Hugs
