Kelly,
My husband has cirrhosis from Hep C. He has not drank any alcohol even a toast at a wedding, for over a decade. That is not a problem for him. He treated the Hep C and is now cured of the virus that destroyed his liver.
Themister is very sick, not doing well at all. He is on the transplant list and will die without a transplant. He has been more or less in the same condition for several years now. Many days he would be unable to safely live alone. Hopefully, he will get sick enough to rush to the top of the transplant list, but not too sick to be transplanted.
In the US, a MELD score is what determines where a person is on the waiting list. Here is a link on MELD.
/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Model_for_End-Stage_Liver_Disease If you have a copy of your Dad's bloods, you can figure his MELD with 3 blood values.... bilirubin, INR, creatinine. Here is a link for MELD calculation. That score gives us some idea of how sick your Dad is now.

I am sorry he still is drinking. This makes it worse on him, and you. My best to you, Kelly. Big Hugs
