one year post treatment with sovaldi & ribavirin..ALL labs normal!!!

Hi guys, had to share my exciting news. You know my Dr said "cured" after 24 weeks with Sovaldi and ribavirin 6 mo after treatment pcr..but like some, just really praying he was right. Now one year after end of treatment, lab tests results a few minutes ago from labcorp on computer...all liver enzymes, platelets, all others normal. So, as I and my family celebrate, may this be used to encourage anyone having any problems with treatment to work with your Dr and make it through to the other side. You can do this. And with this incredible, life-saving forum of the most caring and knowledgeable people ever, you will kick hep c to the curb and encourage others. Always checking in ...

Hi music...Woo Hoo and a big congrats!
I know just how you feel and I'm right there with you...passed my 1 year post - tx. milestone in March 2015. I was diagnosed in 2013 with geno 1b. Did a 24 week regimen of Telaprevir, Interferon and Ribavirin. It was pretty darn ugly at times, but no complaints at all. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. The beast has been slain and life after hep c is a blessing.

My hepatologist is a great guy and an outstanding doc. Says I look great but medically, he remains pretty conservative. He wants annual labs..."undetected" x 5 years before he is willing to use the word "cure". At 66, I'll be darn lucky if that's all I have to look forward to... Come to think of it, I'll see him in about 1 week for my "5-year" colonoscopy...hahaha.

Anyway, great news and stuff we all love to hear.

Congratulations!! Was struck in reading your posts by how few people really understand what a big deal it is to have hep c gone. Granted, I coasted on my cancer treatment so far, but the hep c was for me far more debilitating and burdensome than even cancer. Most people wouldn't and don't understand that. And my guess is most cant rejoice in the news of SVR the way we who hope to achieve it can. Very happy for you and looking forward to the day I am there.
