In his continuing effort to have every surgery in the book, Mike went under the knife again last week.
Seems your upper eyelid can come down and cover part of your eye so that your vision is obscured. When Mike is ill or tired it gets worse. He could hardly see without scrunching up his forehead to see. I don't know if this is a liver thing, but it certainly was a Mike thing.
Here is the scoop:
/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blepharoplasty Don't look at the picture if medical stuff creeps you out.
It was out patient, local anesthetic and quick. His doc did a great job. Mike was in a lot of pain at first, but took vicodin the first days and worked through it. He used a face mask gel pack many times a day. He looked like a raccoon with red mask for a while and under his eyes (which were not part of his procedure, though they do upper and lower on some people) was very puffy and bruised. Now he looks fine but for a bit of residual swelling and he says he has some cloudy vision (maybe the swelling is keeping things a bit off). He isn't scrunching he forehead at all and he looks great.
They don't do it through your insurance if you are a movie star or something (Julie Chen had it done, for example)...to just look younger, but Medicare paid for it as it was covering his pupils on top. He outright flunked the required visual fields test.
All his regular stuff is fine. I reminded him of David's post about
the hydration...I was worried he didn't drink enough playing golf on the hot days. After 2 weeks off (well, maybe 11 days) he hit the links yesterday. Go Mike!
