Hi to all our HW friends.

I have been missing from the forum almost a month.

I have been in the hospital 3 times with C Diff. and had my appendix out as well.

I had great care and seem to be on the mend. I read lots of back posts today and miss you all.

themiz has been here covering for both of us...thank you so much...

today I am feeling semi ok for the fist time since mid November, though totally exhausted from being basically in bed.

wishing everyone a happy holiday...however you celebrste the winter solstice

ML, I'm so sorry to hear about all you've had to go through. I've been radio silent for a while...imagine that. I think about you all the time. My mom got C Diff when she was in the skilled nursing center. We all loved dressing up to see her! haha. Have you gotten through the last bout of it? I hope so. It's nothing to take lightly. I have been doing better emotionally with my parents. I've gotten better at keeping telephone convos short and sweet. I don't engage her with her far fetched comments. There are some duzies. How is your sister doing without around?

Had I told you that mom and dad are drinking again? It didn't take long. We weren't surprised. It would be medical textbook ready if they stayed sober without any professional help. Anyway, I need to read themiz's posts in your absence. Hi themiz!

Thanks for all your good wishes,

I got my hair cut today and needed a nap afterwards...gosh I feel so weak.

I'm worried about some of my lab results...my lfts are elevated and the pathology report from that pesky appendix looks like it may be cancerous. Day by day...I have a call into Mike'S oncologist. Always something.

I'm still taking it easy...bed to Chair to bed again.

I can't believe our members post from their transplant beds...

Susan, would you send me an email, please?

Val, I'm sorry to hear your folks have relapsed, but thrilled to hear YOUR head is in a great place.
My sis is stable but I'm going from 30 hours per week for an aid to 60 hours.
I had been doing the weekends myself, but have been too sick. Mike has been trying to look after both of us and it is too much, I see that now.

Talk about being absent...I'm terrible and I apologize. This job doesn't lend me the same amount of time at my desk as the last. Then the HealingWell app went away. I do appreciate when you all email me on the AIH posters.

That said, I'm sorry to read that you were out of commission. Glad to hear you're on the mend.

I'll aim for random pop-ins in the future :-)

I'm posting more now. Mike has TP clinic next Thurs so that will be interesting.

He is mostly good but his kidneys are not good and he is complaining of pain, pins and needles and numbness in his feet and ankles and up his left leg. We will talk to the Hep guys to see if they have any ideas.

I am waiting to hear from my oncology coordinator at MD Anderson. My appendix had an odd tumor that needs a second opinion. They called today and will let me know next week if/when I should come to Houston for a consult. My diagnosis was mucinous cystadenoma. There are no appendiceal tumor specialists in FL.

Now you are caught up on our current drama.

Hey ML, great to see you back more often, but don't over do it.
Sorry Mike's kidneys are giving him trouble. Hopefully, the docs will have some answers and things will improve...or even better he'll just improve on his own.

Sounds like your tumor was localized...thank heaven for that.
I read up on mucinous cystadenoma/appendiceal carcinoma...in almost 40 years I don't believe I've ever seen this diagnosis.
I found this surgical abstract...won't tell you anything you don't already know, but maybe the references will turn up something of interest to you.

Anyway, glad you continue to feel better. :)

Hepcsurvivor....we Healing Well folks know how to do our research. Thanks for the article...very interesting.

In my case, the tumor HAD ruptured prior to laparoscopic resection of the appendix and the mucin spread around. The community hospital surgeon had never seen this either in his 30 years of practice. He did the right thing, though, in closing and recommending I seek care at a major medical center that treats peritoneal cancers as these are VERY rare and it needs an experienced team for the open surgery and debulking of the mucin from the abdomen. I expect they will do a right hemi colectomy as well...evidently we humans have more than enough bowel to toss some away! Not sure of any of this until I get my appointment at M D Anderson in Houston. Thanks for thinking of me. ML

Yikes...I didn't realize it had ruptured. No wonder you've been so ill and in such pain for this long. Sorry, it took me a while to get on the same page.
You know us guys though, sometimes it takes a 2x4 across the head for the idea to sink in...especially if the idea is from "the wife"...hahaha.
Glad to know you're headed for a cancer center like MD Anderson...definitely the route I'd go.

about 2 years ago, it looked like I might have prostate cancer, but thankfully I didn't. My son, who works in one of the big centers in Boston (known for cutting edge urology...no pun intended, lol) hand picked the surgeon, anesthesiologist and OR crew. I remember him saying, "Dad, he's one of the best urologists on the planet in robotic prostatectomies...he's done well over a thousand. He's gentle, quick and has minimal blood loss which is impressive for a prostatectomy.
If the biopsy is positive, you're getting your butt up here."

Being a patient totally stinks, but knowing you're in the best hands sure helps a helluva lot.
