Welcome to the Hep forum, NMwife. We are a support group of people with liver disease, and those who love them. I am so sorry your husband has Hep C and is drinking. Alcohol on a sick liver is like gasoline on a fire.
My husband, themister, was diagnosed with cirrhosis and Hep C in 2005. Glad to say he has successfully cured the Hep C, but the damage was done to his liver before he even knew he had that nasty virus. He is now waiting for a liver transplant and has been very ill for several years.
It is really too bad your husband refused to seek medical treatment since there is now a cure for Hep C! The success rate is in the high 90%, and normally takes only 12 weeks to be virus free.
Alcoholism, and the damage it causes to their families, is outside the scope of our forum. However, there is help out there for you, and him...if he wants it. I hope you seek help for YOU through a program like Al anon, or an online support group. One I suggest for family and friends of alcoholics is:
www.soberrecovery.com/forums/friends-family-alcoholics/ I hope this helps you.
Here is another link to Ziff's experience with alcoholism and end stage liver disease. A very good read.
