How low on the right side does liver pain go?

jon hi! typically liver pain does start behind the right rib but as my liver worsened i now have liver pain from left rib across the top above stomach,upper right side down to 3" above belt line into back behind rib. of course i have found pain radiates.but the worst of it is upper right behind rib. the pain can be severe or mild. sometimes pain so bad it's hard to breathe. at those times i have to really concentrate on breathig shallow & slower than normal. i don't know what the pain is like with crohns. i'll pray for you God bless. lerie

John those of us that suffer from IBD can have liver related issues at a higher rate. Autoimmune Hep, Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis etc. I get bloodwork done 2x a year to monitor my liver function. I have Ulcerative Colitis. I do have occasional right side pain under the rib cage and have had elevated liver #'s since UC diagnosis in 1/1999. So far there has not been a diagnosis of a specific liver issue. Perhaps if you haven't had them done in the past you could request that your Dr. run a liver function panel for you?

hi jon for me the pain does not go below the beltline. only as low as 3 inches above. i don't know if it's the same for everyone though. mine goes low because my liver is enlarged.i sincerely hope you get answers soon. why do they keep doing your ALT & AST have they given any explaination? Have you been checked for gall stones in the ducts or maybe kidney stones? It might be worth asking your Dr. good luck & as always praying for you. lerie

cysts on the liver are painfull when they break. perhaps the pain you are experiancing is from the pain radiating from the liver. I would still investigate further. best of luck to you

HIi Jon mine is a long story. to make it short my Dr. misdiagnosed me. He told me I had lupus. In 92 he started me on 11 tylonal 3'S aday. in about 6 months I found them no longer effective. so he started me on 15 tylonal 3's with 50 mgs. of demaral 4 times aday. then after another year & me totaly addicted started me on clonazopam , 60 mg. morphine 4 times aday. he told me I was dying from the lupus.so added these & valium to the other drugs I was already taking. I was so stoned I didn't care any more . Just wanted my drugs . % years later one day in Oct. 97 woke up in hospital & was told I had been in a comma for 3 weeks.liver failure. this happened 4 times. they told me I had 2 weeks to live. My dr. told me it was ok to continue the drugs. I was so addicted now & so stoned I couldn't grasp the reality of my situation. I don't to this day know what happened but I ended up in jail (which saved my life). anyway dr. there told me I had 6 months to live if I stayed off the drugs. I came to toronto instead of going back to where I came from, got clean & found out I had ostreo arthritis not lupus! anyway I'm still clean,no more tylona or any other prescription drugs. I've lived 9 years longer than they gave me. but liver cancer or liver failure are inevitable. things are getting bad agaian.I don't know why . I was stable for so long. But hey I'm still here right. & that is alot to be thankful for. Sometimes it's really hard on my husband tho. I worry about what he goes thru. well later eh? Hi Hep 93. Nice to meet you. I tried to sue that Dr. But lawyers here want 5000 up front in malpractrice. I also only had a 1 year time limit.Sooooo.But hey I'm still here right? There's a lot of drugs that affect the liver but people generally are supposed to trust their Drs. Arn't they? yes getting clean did help big time tho hepatolagist said at my stage shouldn't have mattered. But they are only Drs.,not God right? how are you doing ?I'm glad to hear your docs are on the ball.

Try eating a well balanced diet & drink fresh water everyday ,if you don't have accetie or adema 8 glasses aday to flush toxins out of the liver because it is a filter for toxins & this may help reduce the number of cysts hopefully.I'm here if you want to talk.
