I was around someone who has Hep c Feb 3 we had kisses and well he was my first love we reconnected we were having sex with a condom but we stopped didn't go all the way. I'm freaking out that I have Hep c found out he had it afterwards we no longer speak as I'm very upset and scared to death what is the chances I could have contracted this? And could anyone tell me the symptoms please

Hey relax, according to studies, it is not 100% proved whether hep C is transmitted by sex or not. Even though hep C between married couple is 2% ( and they dont know if it was transmitted by sex or not, most probably it was blood related) If during kissing there were no blood, the chances is very very low.

Thanks I'm just so scared I go to Dr Monday getting tested I have the flu right now everyone in my house sick and I've made myself so sick thinking it's Hep c symptoms instead of the flu. What exactly is the symptoms of Hep c is dirreah a symptom I've been having bouts of that before the flu

Most people have no symptoms from hep c. Many people don't know they have it, till some damage is done. Wait at least 2 months after your possible infection, before testing. It takes 4-8 weeks for a positive test.

Don't stress!! Lauraa is right, sex is a very very low chance of infection.

Thanks for replying I'm trying not to stress I've just been having bouts of nausea and dirreah and it's scaring me to death.its been almost two months ago since the incident I wish I could turn back time.

Its very unlikely that you would contract Hep C from that interaction- they say only 2 percent chance. I had many years before I knew I had it, had 2 children and neither my husband nor my children contracted Hep C. Your symptoms sound like a stomach virus/ flu. The test for hep c is just a blood test so you might as well have the test and you will feel better. Worst comes to absolute worst (which it won't) you can get cured!

Very slim chance of Hep C transfer from sex, 2% is what I have read also. I was told that if I was married and having sex with one partner I didn't need to use protection.
I was first diagnosed with Hep C in 1999, I underwent the old treatment with Pegasus Interferon and Ribavirn which was ineffective. In 2011 I cleared the virus with the new treatment.
I am well aware of the negative sides, the paranoia, and the sensitive nature of even having this condition. For a long time it bothered me how I contracted it, but at that point it's all moot, not worrying about something that you will never have the answer to. Recent studies have shown that a large part of the Hep C outbreak was caused by improper use of needles, blood transfusions and medical procedures not intravenous drug use. The new treatment is highly effective, and safe. All of my liver enzymes returned to normal readings within 12 weeks. Very limited side effects.

afh, welcome to the forum.

I will share with you that my partner had Hep C for 40+ years. We have been together over 30 of those years. He didn't know and we took no precautions for a long long time. When he was diagnosed we learned that blood to blood was pretty much how I could contract it. We made no changes for intimate contact. We did use surgical gloves for blood to blood stuff...if he was injured and needed first aid...gloves. He had a bloody nose that needed cleaning up...gloves. WE also did not use the same towels or face clothes...I washed his towels in Clorox every time.

I am sure you are fine....but like you I tested right away and for a few years. Then I gave up worrying and got on with our life.

Thanks everyone for replying I just got my results back I was tested for Hep A,B,and C all negative I'm so relieved and thanking God for being with me
