hep b PLEASE help me interpret these test results

Hep B core antibody total= non reactive
Hep B core antibody IGM= reactive
Hep B surface antibody = non reactive
Hep B surface antigen= non reactive

AST normal range 20
ALT normal range 29

I am trying not to freak out. My dr emailed me saying i have Hep B and said she doesnt know much about it so referring me to GI

Hi dmgirl101 and welcome,
You do not have hep b... The 3 non reactive tests means you have no active or prior infection.. one possible scenario could be you are in incubation. Because it takes a few weeks to test positive..

Your GI will likely test you again and should be able to explain your results. Let me know how it goes, That reactive igm is usually done on a follow up..

Hi! Thank you so much for your response! I actually tested positive for it by another doctor with the same exact results. She said she wasn’t too experienced in Hep. So when I moved to another city I found another doctor and she told me the same thing and is sending me to a G.I. He said that my anti-body test dead positive but on the test results it says for the total anti-body nonreactive but the IGM reactive . My original dr that found it tested for this almost two months back she said it could have been a false positive but then when I retested when I moved on Thursday I found out the same thing. Honestly I’m so scared. I just don’t understand why the anti-body total would be non-reactive but then the anti-body IGM reactive?

Your GI will run a new set of tests, and should be able to run tests to see if your anti hbc igm is a false positive. igm reactive by itself for two months, is likely a false positive.
