Hello Dorthy, Encephalopathy is hurtful to anyone exposed to it. Be that patient , caregiver or friends. I found myself getting lost in our tiny town and absolutely terrified, Which way is home? Went to use my cell and Call wife and friends but couldn't remember how to unlock phone. I was less than 15 minutes from my home but couldn't tell ya how to get there. Police friend who happened to see my Jeep pulled over on shoulder and got me back home. I've been over 12 years since my TIPS surgery, but HE still creeps up on me. I should have taken lactulose at the onset of feeling woozy. Unfortunately trying to get the super syrupy concoction down my throat found me gagging most of the time. I always said if hell had water-fountains most likely they only dispensed Lactulose.
I'm so sorry for your loss. It is my hope if a soul exist beyond death David, Connie (Hep93) and others I've witnessed die fighting. Hopefully have found peace. No more tears or uncertainty of what tomorrow brings.Keep ya head up and know that you did the best you could. I've seen caregivers who have walked out when the chips get down. I been as fortunate as Bill was. My wife spent evenings after long days of work to come and sit with me in the hospital and keep us from losing everything. I wish you the best in a new chapter in your life.
My condolences
