You know,Ive been through alot in my life,and when going through bad times,I keep telling myself and my children,,,just wait for the turnaround,,,when life starts getting better again,,,,sorry Im in a very down mood today,,,,,,Rick got his letter about his appeal for ssd today,and sadly,they have denied him once again,,,,,the next appeal process is 16 mths to 2 yrs,,,,,,,Rick now wants to drink again,,,,,wow that would really help out MY frame of mind oh husband of mine,,,,,,,I dont understand these drs,,,its like they dont even read the test results,,,all of Ricks drs have specified NO lifting and very limited walking,,,,and yet on the denial letter it states,,,Rick can still lift 20 lbs occasionally,and 10 lbs frequently,,,,,,,,THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THESE PPL!!! they have not examined him at all during this process,just have recieved all tests from his drs,,,,how can they just change what his own drs have said???? this is devastating to us financially,we have barely been hanging on as it is,,,,,sorry to be so down when it should be a joyous time,,,take care all

I am so sorry that you are going through all this. What does your lawyer say about this long wait and can they do anything to speed it up. You all have been through so much that I hope that Rick doesn't make that decision to drink again. I know that would add even more to your already full plate. I know that it seems like you take a step forward then get shoved back. The SSI system is not designed to get through and I have no understanding as to why that is. You pay into it and then when you need it it seems they want to act like you are taking it from them. My heart goes out to you and your family and will keep you in my prayers.

thanks Lucy,,I guess Im just gonna take deep breaths,and go forth,,,not much else we can do,,,he needs a new lawyer,as this one doesnt return any phone calls,,,,,,so that will be the first order of business at the start of the new year,,,,,,take care

My heart goes out to you Trish.  We are in the same sinking boat, also recieved the second denial letter a couple of days ago.  It certainly has made this already stressful time of year much more so.  I habe been working 50+ hours a week to get us by thinking he would be approved after appealing the first denial.  wow what a suprise.  It's so frustrating to see people recieving disability for things not as serious as esld.  In addition to that stress my husband is in the initial process of being evaluated by the VA for a transplant, tomorrow he starts a series of 4 days of testing.  This occurs at a hospital 2 hours from our house, so no work for me this week either.  Just had almost a week off becuz he was in icu on a vent for 7 days due to an airway infection that eas causing his airway to close.  On an up note tho we are expecting our first grandchild anyday!! I think that is the only thing keeping me sane at the moment!!  Rambling a little, I guess becuz I feel so overwhelmed and frustrated.  Hoping the new year brings peace and blessings to  all.

Trish, I am so sorry to hear this! I just wish there was something I could do!!!! The government needs to get a grip...Waiting for another appeal is crazy!! You need the help now!!! Rick is disable and the doctors have even said so!! There is just no sense in this! I am so upset to hear about this!!!

MnMom, I am so sorry I have been in such a state from yesterday. I a sorry to hear about your denial too!!! I juast don't understand this at all!! My husband, had a good ajudicator he helped us in everyway, even made complains to him about the SSI doctor!! ESLD should be enough, but the ball is being dropped somewhere, on both your's and Trish's husbands, it just upsets me to no end. That you all are not getting the help you need!! I just don't understand it!!! I do know how hard it is to make it, we were fortunate to have been approved the first time around, it was hard waiting just those few months. The system is not working right here!!! I am just upset about this!!!

thanks Teresa,,,I felt very violent the day the letter came,,but now Im just numb from the Christmas episode...
mnmom,,to make things worse,I cant work because if I do,,hubbys spenddown increases ALOT,,,to the point that we would actually have less income coming in then we do now,,,and if I got a really good job,he would lose medicaid,,,we are between a rock and a hard place,,,sorry to hear bout your letter ,I sure do know what your feeling

Hang in there. I read your post about Rick's violence. You poor thing. He just doesn't realise what you are doing for him. He must be blind!! He's probably very frustrated about the denial (I'm not making excuses for him - what he did is inexcusable) but if he has any sense at all he must realise drinking again is not the answer.

you are in my prayers and we should all pray that he'll see the light and realise what a good thing he has in you - and keep off the alcohol.

thanks for the prayers ,,,I sure do need them,,,,,rick is considering going to mental health for evaluation,,,,,I think he needs to,,,his depression is not being medicated properly,and he needs counseling along with proper meds,,,,he gets his anti d's from his regular dr,,,but rick needs the therapy to help him too,,,though i am encouraging him to get the help he needs ,im not sure where i stand,,,,,its like ,ppl tell me i have strong shoulders,but my shoulders are now on the floor,,,,know what i mean? he knows something is different with me now,,,im detaching from him,,,,self preservation ya know? ive been very blunt with him about how i feel and the consequences of his actions,,,,i told him i wanted to stay with him through everything but he has pushed me away,,,,,and im not going to let someone,,,,ANYONE,,put ME into mental health,,,,,

Hi Trish..I'm so sorry to read what you're dealing with...the denial of SSD and Rick wanting to drink again. I will continue to keep you, Rick and your children in my prayers that Rick will think twice about going back to drinking. Drinking is not the answer. Rick is the only one who can make up his mind to stay off the booze. You guys need to get another lawyer and get with your congress people to help with the SSD. My husband receives his SSD, I know a few of the major things that was looked at his was his bleeding varices and his ammonia levels. I can't believe that the SSD doctors haven't even evaluated him, that seems kind of strange to me. Good luck with everything, hang in there and you guys will be in my prayers.
