Just want to vent

I hope everyone has had a good day. Unfortunately mine wasn't so great.
First I got a call at work this morning from my husbands transplant coordinator. She said that his red blood cell count was very low and that he may need a blood transfusion. She said to call my hubby's primary care physician to make an appointment and have a transfusion ordered. I did call right away. The receptionist broke it to me that they had already taken him off the transplant list. We had been told that they would keep him on until the next CT scan the end of March. She would talk with the doctor and call me back. I waited until 4:30pm to recall her and she said that his primary called his GI and he said that they didn't need to order a transfusion unless it goes lower than 8. That she would monitor his monthly blood work. Now normal is 40 and he was at 26 last Tuesday. I emailed the coordinator and asked her to push it. I am so mad at both his primary and GI . I guess my husband has to be on death's door before they do anything.

In between time I got a call from his cancer doctor's nurse. Stating that our insurance does not want to pay for another CT scan as he just had one the first week of this month. She didn't know why his cancer doctor was requesting a follow up scan. I had to explain it all to her so she would call the insurance company back. I am so sick of fighting doctors,nurses and our insurance company. They are making me sick.
Sorry for being so negative. I just had to let it out some way so I wouldn't go postal on anyone.

I am so sorry that you are having to go through all of this. It is so frustrating when you feel as though no one is listeninng to you and there is so much at risk. I agree with Trish that maybe you should go for a second opinion and doctor shop. Will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers.

I can totally relate to what you are going threw I am going threw the same thing seems like everyone is not on the same page....... I hate it when that happens also when Dr.'s disagree.

 

You need to find out if your insurance carrier has a coordinator to help with some of these problems most due and interceed on your behalf for you if you ask them too, in the mean time keep pressing on and also NEVER take a receptionist word for anything nor the Dr.'s Office Nurse always ask to speak to the Doctor or have him call as soon as he can.  When Dr.'s are put on the spot they tend to side with the patient and family and usually will due what you ask.  If you are still having a hard time change Doctors because that one would not be working in your best interest.  The last resort is E.R. telling them your husbands plates are low and he is feeling really bad with those numbers they have to keep him and treat him.  Best of Luck hope I have helped and I will also pray for you both.
