Hello everyone,

I received my latest blood results yesterday.  They were the best I have had since 2004.  WOW!! Was I happy>  Am I happy?  YES!!YES!!.

Also the bone density appears OK and the liver ultrasound didn't show any focal lesions - so no cancer.  Just abnormal texture or something like that, indicative of cirrhosis and chronic autoimmune hepatitis.

I almost feel guilty posting good news when I read of the misfortunes some of you are experiencing but it gives us all hope to see someone else becoming more well.

If my heptologist doesn't lower my Prednisone on March 14th I'll scream!!

Congrats Marg!!!

Am so happy that you got such good news. It is so awesome that this is the lowest they have been in three years.....certainly does give me hope that my next ones will be more positive.

Will keep my fingers crossed that your doc will lower the pred.

Marge, that's wonderful! Don't feel guilty at all. You deserve some good news, and it gives the rest of us hope.

I am sure you will be able to go down on the pred. if not this time next time for sure

Greetings everyone! I am newly diagnosed with Hep C and am awaiting a liver biopsy in a few weeks. I am not very savvy when it comes to open chat forums, but I am delighted to be here. Congratulations Marg, although I do not really know anyone yet, it seems to me that good news always brings people up.

Hi, and welcome dangel. I also have hep C (diagnosed in '93 by liver biopsy) and liver cancer. I expect to have the right lobe of my liver removed soon. I have an appt. Tues. with the liver surgeon.

And more good news. My Prednisone dose has been reduced to 9mg per day. I can't believe how happy just 1mg has made me. My heptologist was pleased with my LFT's and will leave me on 9mg for at least three months before reducing to 8mg. I'm expecting he will be more cautious in three months time and suggest I remain for longer but I don't care. I'm thinking of now.

On a slightly negative note (no - not negative - I'm not being negative anymore) taking 9mg = 1 x 5mg + 4 x 1mg so my daily intake of pills is 5 Prednisone, 4 Cellcept, 2 MucuVision (for macula degeneration), 1 Lexapro (for depression), 33 peony, 33 isatis leaf, 33 cardamon and 5 salvia. Plus once a week fosimax. My granddaughter could use me as a rattle if she could pick me up.

But on a very positive note, these medications are keeping me alive and allowing me to enjoy life, especially my little grand daughter.

I saw my chinese doctor today as well. He was like a cat who swallowed a canary. Grinning broadly and taking all the credit for my improved LFT's and reduced Prednisone (or was he smiling because I pay so much for his services) - how cynical i am today!! I'm sure the acupuncture and herbs are a contributing factor.

Am so happy that your pred was reduced and of course somewhat envious too. So do understand about feeling like a rattle........sometimes I feel like my grandmother and all the medication she took. It is wonderful to hear such good news it give me hope that when I go back in April to my hepatologist that i hear some positives for some myself.
Keep up the good work you deserve it.

Great news Marg!! wow today is a great day to read posts,,,,,,,,one good thing after another,,,,,,,I love all this great news,,,,,,especially for such wonderful people.....welcome dangle and we ll be watching for your post to let us know how the results go with the biopsy....good luck
