Hello! I just found this board today and thought I would post to see if anyone else has gone through was my husband is going through. I will try to make this story short.
He was diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis at the age of 12. He is now 25. Since he was first diagnosed, he has been on about 6 prescriptions he takes daily (imuran, prednisone, prilosec, mephyton, urso forte, etc). A couple of years back, he fell off of a roof. No broken bones or anything like that but we did find out that he spleen was enlarged. Fast Forward to present day. This year, he has been seeing his doctor at the U or I regularly. He recently had an ultrasound done. His bloodwork came back better than ever but it showed that his spleen is more or less twice the enlarged size it was before. Supposedly they put in the notes that if that was ever to burst, there would be little chance of him being able to survive. (Note: My mother in law had to find this information out by looking at his charts secretly-she also works at the U-they never called to tell us the results). Also, about 3 months ago, he was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. That has been getting better and then getting worse as the change in the week. It's not getting better and staying better.
So anyway, finding that out, scares the you know what out of me...especially since we have a 10 month old daughter AND he's a racecar driver (hobby).
I'm mad and upset because it seems like this is a pretty big deal with the possibility of his spleen rupturing and it doesn't seem like anyone gives a darn. I want some answers (which my husband is supposed to be calling the doctor about today).
I was wondering...has anyone been through this or a similar situation?
