Just wondering why no transplant ?

Hi there,My hubby has cerrhosis,They told us 6 months ago,And also told me he dosn't have much time left,I am just wondering & all the family ,why he  hasn't been offered a transplant,He has never drank,He has N.A.S.H. cerrhosis (fatty tissue) He has been in hospital 4 times ,(In there now in fact),  in 6 months.Does anyone one know why ?? thank you.

Hello Blondie54, Call his doctor and ask. He may have his reasons for not referring him to a transplant doctor but you will not know unless you ask him. Maybe he just plain didn't think about it. If it were for me or mine I would difinitely call and get an answer one way or another. It's about life and death so don't put it off either. If he is not a candidate make the doctor explain to you why not. Good Luck... Thoughts and prayers ....Pink Grandma

Hi there,and thank you for your reply.

The specialist said  from the start that   he wasn't well enough to have a liver transplant,i always thought that thats when you do get one,As he has other complications,so he said.Well many thanks for your reply anyway.He was 60 last week.

Blondie, if your dad has cardiac problems or other issues that make him a poor surgical risk, they will not do a transplant. It's true that the worse his liver function is, the more likely he is to have a transplant...but not if he may die on the table.
