Hi Toni, I am so hopeful that things are Ok with you and Will. I have been so worried. We love you and I keep Will in my prayers.

Hello All,

So sorry I have not been on for a while but, Two friends and myself got into a freak accident about 2 weeks ago. I and another friend were very lucky but, one of my very dear friends past away. So as you all know it has been  ruff on us both! Will is feeling better! He stopped by today to check on me, actually he's been checking daily! I have some really great kids! I guess it did'nt hit me until the other day just how lucky I am to be here! I've got a lot of LOVE and support from my family and friends and it sure has helped to get on with life! Of course it makes me more determind now to get Will the medical treatment and Liver Transplant that he needs! Prayers and Thoughts to All! I will try and get caught up on all the post soon!

Toni, I am so very sorry. I am thankful that you survived it all. I pray that you suffered ni major injuries. We love you.

Goodmorning All,

Thank you for your well wishes! I ended up getting 11 staples in the back of my head, along with some bumps and scrapes. I will be okay! As I said before I am a very lucky women!  It definately has been an eye opener, life is to short and sweet to miss anything! Live, Laugh and Love every day as if it will be your last. That's always been my saying to Will. It is so true because you just never know when it's going to be your turn to meet our maker! Thoughts and Prayers to All!

 

Shelly, I have a question? Will's dad has been getting into shape and has lost 75 lbs to get to his healthy weight. He is going to have some test done to find out if he could be a candidate for Live Liver Transplant. I was under the assumption that it could only be done if the Liver wasn't totally cirrhosised. Where could I get info on that? or do you know?

Hi Tony, I was under the same impression as you. My understanding is that the recpient had to have 20% of viable liver ( not chirossed) to recieve living donor liver. I could be wrong tho. I also thought that the donor had be be 50 yrs old or younger to donate. Donor has to be healthy, the same blood type, and same liver size too. There are several tests that have to be done to qualify as a donor such as blood tests (to check for compatiblity), chest x-ray, EKG, CT scan, and a liver biopsy. There may be more tests that I'm not aware of or just don't remember right now. I am happy that Will's dad would be willing to do this. It is major surgery and there are always risks involved. But, like Will's dad I would do it in a heartbeat if it were my child. Let me know what happens.

Hi Tony  We did some checking on Live donor at Vanderbile.  Of course by the time we started checking Jerry was much to bad.  We were told that most of the live donor transplant (at Vandy that is) are done when the receipient MELD is around a 10.  They said it takes about two months of test etc.  The donor must be he good health and about the same size.  Also it isn't just blood type there is also alot of other matching they have to do like tissue etc.  We didn't get to far into it because Jerry's MELD was an 18 by then.  Sorry I coudn't help more. I'm sure Shelly know much more.  I'm so sad for you that you lost a friend.  That is so hard.  Friends are such an important part of our life.  I'm thinking of you.  God Bless

Yes, that's what I had been told however, As of Sept. Will's meld was a 9.7  which is low but, I want to say I was told he could not be sick when the transplant takes place because of the risk factors. He goes back 4/3 @ 4/4 for more testing so I will get my ducks in a row before then. If I could I would have done it long time ago but, I am anemic, and I've had history of uteran cancer which is gone now ! I have done some research on this just forgot where I went but, If his dad is getting in shape for testing himself I'm sure he and his wife have checked it out.

I can honestly say how fortunate I am to have had a friend like my Dolly, she was a blessing on earth and now my Angel in heaven! I so wish we could have had a little more time. She was a single mom of a 13 yr. old son, Loyal and true friend, Hospice nurse. She was know for her laugh and you couldn't help but to laugh along it was very infectious! She has definately left me with a special memory, as she was giving me a big bear hugg and smooch and her last words to me were I LUV YA GAL! I still get choked up thinking about it! To all of you my friends! Your in my thoughts and prayers!

Toni, your friend sounds like a very special person.  I know her passing must have hurt deeply.
