My Results were Borderline Hep B, What does this mean? Please Help.

I've recently went to the Dr complaining about having a stomach virus off and on for about three weeks. I was pretty sure this was just a virus being that many of my family members were doing the same thing, fine a day or two sick a day or two. The doctor sent me home with several stool samples to do to verify this wasn't parasite related which it ended up not being. She also took some blood for blood work. She called me the next day to tell me that my liver enzymes were slightly elevated and to ask me if I'd ever had liver problems in the past, which I said no. She scheduled me for an ultra sound, it just showed a fatty liver. She also checked for Hepatitis and the results came back as "borderline for Hep B". I have the actual result papers, but don't really understand all the different terms and levels... She said that to her she didn't really know for sure what "borderline" meant. To her she thought that it was maybe "too close to tell" that maybe I did, maybe I didn't have Hep B. She's is now sending me to a Gastroenterologist (sp?) for further tests. Has anyone else ever had these "borderline" results and what does this mean, what could it mean? I don't see how I would have contracted Hep B. I have only had one sexual partner which is the person I'm married to and I'm his only ever sexual partner. I have never done drugs, so I haven't came in contact with any needles out side of a hospital setting. I don't even have tatoos to have come in contact with those needles. Also to my knowledge I haven't came in contact with anyones bodily fluids in any form.

I told the doctor that if I did have Hep B that I truly don't know how I would have gotten it? Would the "borderline" results in this case be likely to be a false positive? I might also mention, I have had gall bladder removal about a year and a half ago and I also take cholestyramine powder for post gall bladder issues. I've heard that this medicine can actually affect your liver. Would it be possible that a person's liver enzymes and other levels that showed up on the Hep test be related to the medicine and other issues and maybe the elevated levels are similar to those that would be similar to Hep B without really having Hep B? I thought perhaps since I'm at low risk to have contracted this that perhaps that could be the result of a borderline result???

I'm no doctor but I've never heard of a borderline diagnosis. You either tested positive for the antigen or you didn't. Did you doc check for HEP B surface antigens and antibodies?

By the way, HEP B is one of those diseases that can be transmitted without us ever finding out how we got it. I've never used drugs or needles, have always practiced safe sex (and have had my partners tested), no tattoos, no blood transfusions. No idea where I picked up HEP B. My hepatologist thinks I may have gotten it as a child but we will never know for sure.

On the lab paper that the DR gave me to give to the gastroenterologist she's sending me to said "tested positive for the antigen" I think, but it also said "borderline" out to the side of it.

I kinda think that it will just end up being that my liver enzymes are just high and maybe are common levels that are found with Hep B but that I don't actually have it. I think that could be why maybe that it showed borderline....
