HI Everyone,   I was diagnosed with AIH 8 years ago and have been on prednisone in various doses for just as long. I was wondering if anyone with AIH has experienced inflammation in other areas of their bodies as a result of this disease or due to the steroids. I have been experiencing inflammation in my spine, muscles, and ligaments that have been causing a great deal of pain but no one has said that this is in relation to my diseases. Im wondering if all this inflammation including the inflammation in my liver that helped diagnose me with AIH is symptomatic of some other illness or if this is just AIH progressing or if the other inflammation is just my bad luck?   Thank you for you help!   Gillian

I too have AIH but have not had the inflamation you have described. I have had severe muscle cramps particularly in my legs but no swelling. Has any of your medications recently been reduced? My pred recently was dropped from 10mgs to 5mgs and I experienced bad headaches, mood swings, and the famililar exhaustion. I know that withdrawls from some meds can cause real problems, but I have not heard of those symptoms being associated with a result of this disease. Let me know what you find out and keep us posted.

Hi Lucy, My prednisone was reduced from 14 to 13 mgs in the last month so that’s not a significant change. These various inflammations have been happening over a 2 yr period. I will be talking to my doctor soon so i will keep you guys posted. THANKS!!!! Gillian
